So ugly to look nice🙂
Mitja, can you explain how you did painting and weathering, materials, colors, etc. I assume you use oil colors?! Cheers, Christian

Burkhard: People are different. To me, it's one of best looking submarines 🙂

Christian: Base color is Revell enamel #8, and propeller with Alclad Polished Brass. Green "ring" of algae is made with oil paint. For salt and rust I've used AK Interactive "salt streaks for ships" and AK Int. "rust streaks". And at the end I've used green, dark green, brown and dark brown pastel chalks to get this finish.
Hope I've answered your question 🙂. If there is anything else you want to know, fell free to ask 😄. cheers

Hi Mitja, thx for your explanation. I never used AK Interactive. Is this based on calks? I normally use WEM Colorcoats or Vallejo Acrylics for the base color and oil paints for a wash and weathering effects. The effects on your boat look very nice as replied before! May I will give some new products a try one day.
Here's a link to my Kilo Sub with a subtle weathering on the boat but a heavier weathering on the dock section.

Christian, AK Interactive that I've used is enamel based wash. With thin brush you "paint" vertical streaks on hull, and then you soften them with soft brush and white spirit.
This is the product I've used for salt streaks:

BTW Christian, very nice looking submarine. Love the weathering finish 🙂. I will definitely use her as a reference for my next project HobbyBoss Typhoon 1/350.
So all weathering was made by oil paints? What about other structures around sub, are they stratchbuild?

Hi Mitja, thank you for your kind comment and glad you like it. Yes all weathering was done by artist oil paints. I use lighter fluid to wash and tone them down. I think the way to apply is similar to the way for AK Interactive. I made some bad experiences with white spirit etc. therefore I'm very confident with lighter fluid and that works very well in comparison with oil colors. All the dock section and most of the stuff around was scratch build. There are only a few non scratch build parts I use from L'Arsenal, WEM and the PE.

Respect for scratch build dry dock Christian! Excellent work on it 😄.
Jep, oil paints and AK Int. has similar way to apply. But probably with oil paints you have more control over paint because it drys slower. Have to try this on my next sub 😄.
