P-40E Warhawk "Tarheel"
The seat from Ultracast makes an already nicely detailed cockpit look even better.
Test fit, test fit, and finally test fit to avoid surprises further on.
Basic painting done and some decal placards from the Barracuda sheet applied. Next step is a light oil wash to get some “depth” in the cockpit.
Cockpit finished.
This kit has a rather complex fuselage assembly but with a bit of putty and patience the end result looks OK.
The cockpit installed
A simple enamel pin wash gives the wheel wells a bit more depth.
Next stop; the paint booth.
Base coat on and the first step of the weathering done.
There were only a handful of decals in the Barracudacals sheet and they were all applied in one evening. Probably a new record for me...

Thanks guys. I have never built an Hasegawa P-40 before but it looks like an excellent kit so far.

Nice! Following! The P-40 is one of the most beautiful aircraft of ww2. No doubt you will make a fine model of it 👍

Thanks mates. All the positive words from fellow modellers are very encouraging.
Greco, this particular kit (JT86) does not include parts for an N-variant. JT88 is the same base kit but with parts for the N-variant.

Beautiful P 40, Mats ! Superclean build and paintwork, I like how the O.D. Modulates with the subtle shading.

Very Nice! Working on my P-40E also. You're right, the fuselage does take patience! Cheers!

Thanks Matthew. Apart from the fuselage assembly this kit almost builds itself. Looking forward to see some photos of your P-40.
