I didn't know you've been to Duxford Spanjaard. I'm ashamed to say that I have never been. I would love to, but never got round to it. I would definitely recommend Cosford which has an amazing collection including all three 'V' bombers and a TSR 2.
It also has my 'birth plane' (the aircraft which first flew, nearest to the date of my birth). My birth plane is probably the ugliest/dorkiest aircraft at the museum, almost completely unknown and was created to be very, very slow, but at least it's a one-off.
Ever heard of the 'Hunting H126'? No, I thought not.

Thanks for posting the photos - very interesting.

Mhhh Gorbygould, you truly missed something that you not have been there in Duxford.
I have been there in November 2008 on the way to Telford and I much enjoyed it. I saw my first Spitfire in flight🙂

Cossford is also an amazing place of aircraft history.

Cheers, Christian

this place was simply incredible, spent the whole day there.... and enjoyed every second of it. some of the planes there you can not see really often.... and seeing people working in getting the B-17 back in flying status is something you do not see everyday... i should come back one day when there is airshow.....

cosford seems also to hold a very nice collection. i can recommend RAF museum London (hendon), i spent a complete day there 10 years ago, that i will not forget.... 🙂

Are you in Britain at the moment Spanjaard, or have I misunderstood? If you are, if your visit takes you near Coventry, let me know and I'll take you to the local 'Midland Air Museum'. It has a surprisingly good collection – we even have an Avro Vulcan!
I have been to Hendon, although it was many years ago.

Christian: I've had a look at Duxford's website many times, so in a way I do know what I'm missing, but I never get around to planning to go there. It doesn't help that my wife's interest in aircraft is in inverse relation to mine, but Cambridge is nearby, so she can spend the day there and I can spend the day in wingything heaven. That's my plan anyway 🙂

Wilky: I'm a mine of useless information Wilky, I assume you mean the Hunting H126. Some days I spend hours finding information about obscure aircraft online. Do you now what your 'birth plane' is?
