Hobby Boss F4U Corsair
Flat gray primer followed by acrylic matte clear coat.
Engine hand painted and weathered with enamels washes.
Testors Flat Sea Blue enamel was thinned and applied by brush, followed by a coat of the matte acrylic.
First coat
Second coat. If I were going to render the plane as brand new, I'd probably apply a third coat, but I want to weather the plane heavily, so the streaking works for me.
I decided to lighten a few panels with the Sea Blue mixed with a bit of Flat Gray.
Enamel washes were applied after a coat of acrylic gloss and decals. Finished with a final matte acrylic coat. Shown are all the paints and clear coats used.
I chose to use the "Death Rattlers" decals from Hasegawa's F4U kit.

Thanks! I've been airbrushing models for many years now but for this project I decided to go back to my roots and use only paintbrushes, spray cans and cheap paint. I limited myself to those products which I could buy at my local floral and craft store. I wanted to see if I could create a decent model using ordinary, inexpensive materials.

Choppa Nutta - Thanks. I used Testors enamels for both paint and weathering. The weathering washes were thinned way down, brushed on with a flat brush and then wiped off with cotton buds dipped in thinner.
