I should build a transport trailer. Super space saver for 5 cars. And I need a trailer for all my trucks... When my bank catches a glimpse of money, I should get one.

Yes, You can put 1 semi and 5 cars in the space of 4 cars. In fact virtually all of my semi builds will be for the transporting of cars.

Thank you James. I enjoyed customizing the trailers with the stars and BMF.

Well finally decided to tackle this one again. My second trailer has been passed around to other tractors long enough. I am still on the fence about the incomplete LED lighting. I guess I will see how I feel about doing it or not as I make progress.

Finally got the frame mostly assembled and repainted. Engine was placed for a mock up. Added amber lights to body pieces.

Bozzer, this is a stalled project from years ago that I have decided to finish.

The led lights should be easy to do. But I usually run one wire, down each frame rail, at the top, so you can't see it. Leave a hoop on both sides, under the sleeper area. That's usually the easiest place to store the battery. You can also pick up any cab lights, you may be thinking of installing?

I have decided to forgo the LED lighting. I had all the LEDs needed, a flasher circuit mounted in the sleeper and tiny switches in the back wall of the sleeper. In spite of this much progress, I simply did not want to retrofit the LEDs into and already match painted body. Too much risk of screwing up. Especially since I do not have paint for touch ups.

Been slowly working on this project. I have the interior and sleeper detailed inside. Figured I would share some pics before it disappears from view.

Saved the irreplaceable back wall. Removed all the switches from the proposed but aborted LED lighting. Filled the matching pairs of holes with lenses from the parts box. Scratchbuilt a chain box to cover the holes towards the bottom.

Be slowly making progress. Ran into the infamous fitment issues. My frame ended up being curved. This required mods to the bottom of the cab and sleeper. Added a crossmember and moving the cab/sleeper support. Had to add spacers to all the mounts to raise everything about 2mm. This allowed the hood to align properly and got the fairings away from the rear tires.
Added a pic to show the painted and assembled cab before decorating with BMF and decals.

I got my custom decals applied last Sunday. Today I got brave and airbrushed Pledge over them. This was my first time ever. In spite of horrible technique and probably the wrong air pressure, Pledge's self leveling properties won the day.

Villiers and Marvel, Thank you. 🙂 The green stuff is simply a block of cheap floral foam. It holds parts that have just been painted.

Looking amazing buddy! Just don't airbrush the clear parts, or you'll be angry with yourself. However, you can dip them in the solution and they'll come out like the real glass. Just pay extra attention to how you hold them, for the dipping process, and watch out for the fluid gathering in one corner, as it dries! I usually try to soak it up, with some kitchen roll, before it dries. Apply the kitchen roll to the bottom edge, of where the drip is forming.

Bozzer,
I already airbrushed the windows with the whole cab. Fortunately every window except the passenger side window came out crystal clear. That one window slightly fogged so I may just live with it. If it was really well glued in place, I could remove the Pledge with ammonia. Lesson learned.

Bill, that's actually a very good tip, my friend, and I have a build, that I'd love to try the ammonia trick on! As ever, the knowledge and experience, that comes from Scalemates and it's collective, is legendary! Thanks for the tip Bill, priceless, my friend 👍

Bozzer, Just dip a cotton swab in household ammonia and it will dissolve it without hurting the plastic. It also has no effect on solvent based paints. Though it MIGHT dull the shine until you recoat it with pledge. It removed and reapplied Pledge 4 times on the roof of my red Chevelle without bothering the paint. (Try that with any other clearcoat!)

Got the chassis done by reinstalling a mudflap I knocked loose. Air cleaner needs to wait until the cab is attached to align to it properly. This was actually more of a challenge to get together than the modified Freightliners I did.

Munky, these guys have some cool stuff in their chemists! If only we could explain, that we can't get ammonia or rubbing alcohol, from the pharmacy here? Bill, we'd have Scotland yard, smashing down our doors, and then taken off to London, to be thrown in the tower, for execution! Sadly, we have to acquire some of our stuff, from the internet, and then go through the process of what quantities we are allowed, if the carrier, will carry them? I so wish that I was back in the states 🙂

Bozzer, You mean you cannot purchase a bottle of diluted household ammonia or 70% rubbing alcohol? Really? Are they afraid you are going to cook up some meth or something?

Bill, I'm guessing that they think, something like that? I was amazed at the fact that I could walk into a store, I think it was similar to dollar general, and but it, when I was stateside? We have a similar thing here, but it contains castor oil, and isn't any use for our hobby. I used to get my I.P.A. from my brother, who worked in a laboratory, but since he retired, I ran out, and that was the end of that 🙁

Yes Boz ya so right! When it comes to household chemicals & food additives the States is far more relaxed.
I can't even buy a gallon of methylated spirits for my Mamod steam engines!

Munky mate, I have some Meths, that I use for cleaning stuff. It's probably about 30yrs old now? I've not heard or seen it, over here, in donkeys years? Mamod Steam engines! Now there's a blast from the past! Our kid had one, back in the 70's. I still remember the smell of it. Good times 🙂

It only took 16 years but both of my American MuscleCar Transporters are done. I got brave and took them outside for pics between hail and rain showers.

I do mate. I'll upload some pictures a little bit later, when I get back from work. I don't think that I have too many, but I can always do some progress pictures, from now till the end. Remembering to take pictures, has always been my downfall. When I get in the cave, time stops and the plastic builds itself? I'll see if I can rustle up some pictures of my International Transtar Eagle 2, too. That was a pleasure to build. If I did another K-100, it's going to be the AMT version. This thing, knows more curse words, than I thought I knew!

@bozzer. Yes I have realized quickly that the old AMT k-100s are best. Revell I guessed never decided to do QA with that flimsy cab. The have 2 AMT and on ERTL and looking at getting more. I am going to check that out. I'm currently building at least one to two K-100s out of 3-4 kits lol.

@Jarrett. If I'm honest mate, I'd say that the Eagle 2 was a good kit. It actually didn't take long to build, and the only problem that I had, was a screw up on the paint, and a misunderstanding by myself, with the decals. It's that good, that I tracked down another one. So definitely, treat yourself, if the opportunity arises.

Started 16 years ago and got the AMT Kenworth T600 and both trailers done back then. Kenworth Canepa version finally finished April 2022.
