Kinetic F/A-18A+/B / CF-188 - Build
The intake part is a bit tricky
Also the fit of the top and bottom part is rather mediocre
That's the area where the internal spacers would be needed...
Do those three things to be glued on like this? I'm a bit confused...
Really nice decals to work with! The downside : there are some missing...
And as always, there's one decal which didn't go as planned...
But his side looks awesome!
Agan a bit of a rough surface, it still happens to me once in a while…
All decals added to the fuselage and some parts already received a bit of weathering.
Hmm, not sure if this is going to look good in the end...
After the wash the initial weathering looks a bit better
Finally things come together
Arghh, i still don‘t like the weathering. But i think there‘s not that much i can do anymore. Maybe the matte/satin finish tones it down a bit, we will see.
Front LG looks ok to me
Also main LG is ok, don‘t know if it really has the red on the doors, but i liked it as it gives a bit of color…
Does anybody know where this needs to be fitted? I can‘t figure it out in the instructions (which are really lousy…)
Undortunately there's some fogging on the canopy... I need to get a bit creative...
Nearing completion...
It's basically done, just need to deal with the canopy...
A bit of damage control on the canopy
A job done! 🙂

Nice subject! ?
Typical kinetic kit but its the best we've got for the legacy hornet?♂️. There are some workarounds to be found in forums, e.g. internal spacers/sidewalls for the rear part.

Also taking a seat, looks quite good so far, like the detail paintwork in the landing gear area as well as in the cockpit. 👍

a bit of progress here, everything is now painted (even though i think i didn't hit the color tone very good, hopefully weathering improves that...) and there is one correction needed as the paint peeled in one spot.

I like double-seaters, so that was the one to go with the kinetic kit 😉

Great work Schnemat, really like the outcome so far! 👍
As to your question about the pod, I think it goes on the left side fuselage anchoring normally reserved for the air-to-air missiles - at least this is the case for the Rhino Hornet.

Pic 32 shows you're already using the correct pod in the correct position 👍
(pic 31 shows the litening pods that preferably goes centerline position on most non-navy hornets - but also not used by RCAF)
a great looking hornet, I really like the typical streaks behind the slats, looking forward to the big rollout! 👍

Thank you for all your nice comments! I hope the canopy is not going to ruin the whole model...
