Focke Wulf FW 190 D-9 Tamiya 2000 tool

Made a start on the Tamiya version of the FW 190 D-9. No flash and seems to be quite detailed. 🙂

Wings have been glued together. Added Vallejo Model Air RLM02 to the internals of the fuselage. Cockpit (minus gearstick and seat and dashboard) has been started. Base colour Vallejo Model Air RLM02 with some additional colours to denote varying switches, pedals etc. 🙂

Vallejo Model Air RLM83 Dark Green added. I'm not convinced that this is the correct combination (as taken from scalemates). Any hints will be gratefully accepted! 🙂

Mottling added in RLM82 and RLM83. Gloss varnish applied ready for decals. 🙂

Undercarriage, propellor, cockpit and the other bits and pieces added. I now consider this FW 190 D-9 of IV/JG 301 in 1945 complete. 🙂

Jagdgeschwader 301 (JG 301) was a Luftwaffe fighter-wing of World War II. The order to form JG 301 was issued on 26 September 1943 and formed on 1 October 1943 in Neubiberg with Stab and three Gruppen (groups). II/JG 7 was attached to IV./JG 301 on 24 November 1944. There were usually 4 staffels (squadrons) for each Gruppe.

The Gruppenkommandeure from 24 Nov 1944 was Hauptmann Wilfrid Schmitz. He had previously been awarded the Knight's Cross of the iron Cross. On 4 Feb 1945, he was shot down and killed by Soviet anti-aircraft fire during a low level attack on the Polish side of the Oder opposite Eisenhüttenstadt.
