JV44 Hunters and Protectors Project
Me262A-1a/U4 carried a 50mm cannon in the nose. Only used on a few flights as the pilots hated it.
Just slightly bigger than a Fw190 A8 🙂
PE Riedel starter pulley added and Riedel starter exhaust hole drilled
Aircraft hydraulic pump missing (Port engine only)
Missing aircraft hydraulic pump added
Combustion chamber housing drilled out
Six combustion chambers added to the engine
Chamber dividers added
Starting to add wiring and pipework to the instrument panel
IP wiring being added
Engine pipework being fitted. It's harder then it looks
Experiment to make electrical wiring conduit
The adding of pipes and wires begins. This will take a lot of time
Last dry fit before painting pipes
All pipes fitted now. Just need to paint them after the CA dries
Combustion chambers primed with Mr. Surfacer 1000
Marking for engine mounting points
Vallejo metal color started to be added on rear section of engine. Not long until i glue it all together

Alan GChristian. The 1:32 Red 2 & 4 D11 conversions aren't cheap so i'll get them one at a time when money allows. But i'll start with a D9 first. I have some AM bits to add to one of them.

Alan GDone a little scratch building of the combustion chambers. Found some old cable flex that was the right size and used it to create the six chambers. No point in buying plastic rod when i have free things lying around 🙂

JohnLove the combustion chamber salvage! That's how you know you do too much modeling (maybe 😉 ) because I always look at random things and wonder how they can be incorporated into a build.

Alan GJohn. Thanks for stopping by. I have a draw (or two) full of what most people would consider rubbish. I look at something and think. I might be able to use that on something in the future lol. My wife calls it hoarding 🙂

Alan GStarted to add pipes, wires and brackets. This will take a lot of time and i'm trying to build up in layers so i don't have to work around things later on

Alan GNeed to start painting the lower pipes now before i can add the upper ones. But not too much more for me to do on the engine. I won't go too overboard on this

ErikExcellent work on the Jumo, congratulations! I'm curious to see how you'll treat the Dora. I have the same Dora kit under conversion for a D-11 to make red 4 of JV44. Cheers

Love the colour scheme of the Fw190s in JV44. So i thought i'd combine the two squadron aircraft together. I am going to try and build four of the Me262's including Galland/Stigler/Schallmoser/Steinhoff (Hunters) and all five of the Fw190's including Sachsenberg/Faber/Wübke/Hofmann (Protectors) aircraft in JV44
