Subs!
Completed models. Gloss coat on the Dallas came out a but pebbly, but I wasn't going to spend too much time polishing everything up!
The old decals wouldn't melt down despite trying 3 different kinds of setting solutions. These were quick builds so I decided not to spend much time blending them in.
I think those 'hatches' where the red radioactive marks go are supposed to be white, but I couldn't find much evidence for that in pics...so I left them as-is.
Went for this scheme with the nose since I am not skilled enough to draw/cut an appropriate radius on the masking tape. Tried it a couple of times and just went with what works.
Scopes are probably my favorite part of this build with the little leopard spots.
Fake wood effect on the stands - Light brown base with dark brown brushed over it. All the lettering was hand painted, for better or worse.
An attempt at masking to match the Dallas filming model.
My desk is much cleaner now...
Lots of small scale things in the booth!
You can see the outcome of trying to cut the masking while on the sub (I'm not a smart man). Thought that would be easier for some reason...though I also tried drawing and cutting it on a mat, which didn't work either. Oh well.
I think I used copper paint instead of brass, but it looks nice in such a tiny scale!
