Hi Andy, I'm sure it will be interesting to see how you build this plane. I would love to be inspired here. I'm also planning on building a La-7. Only it will be a larger scale 1:48 🙂.
I'm sure you could figure it out yourself - the machine in the first photo with the number 10 is a version of the LA-5. It has the air intake for the turbocharger on top of the hood. The oil cooler is small and located in the front. The La-7 had the oil cooler more to the rear (about level with the trailing edge of the wing) and the air inlets for the turbocharger in the wings.

Hi Ludvík- I bought the La-7 by mistake, was planning a 5. And when I checked the photos I'd realised my mistake of searching for the La-5. I think I've rectified this now. It's definitely a 7 that will be built!
I suffer for my art in 72nd, I guess a 48 will be that but better detailed. No complaints on this so far, (I've got most of it together in a day)

Another ruskie, Andy!
I can't miss this one (one more time 😉)
Nice cockpit 👍

Cuajete!, you're a glutton for punishment!! Thanks for looking in. Yes a Soviet, I will only build the IL-2 for my Soviet WWII collection.

Yes, it is true that La-5 and La-7 are very similar. It's easy to confuse them.
The interior looks good, looking forward to the sequel.

An easy mistake to make 🙂
Like where this is going, watching for sure.

Hello Jan, quickly got this up and running - thanks for your interest

You just sneaked in towards the end Robert! But we're glad to see ya!!

Thanks Cuajete- not quite the sharpness of Eduard's FW190 in this scale, but impressive moulds and great use of PE to pop out those details.

Thanks Ludvík- I'm in between jobs and have had pretty much 3 months off. So to alleviate the boredom that can happen in these situations, I thought I'd try to complete some of the stash, try to up the game and also determine "how long does it actually take to make a model"?

Good to hear from you Roland, and thanks for the encouragement!!

Hope you have equal success and mojo that you'll get with this kit David! Thanks for the kind words

Thank you, Andy. I am not late, it is rather you assembling this Lavochkin so quickly 😉

Very nice, definitely a nice addition to your collection of Russian WWII machines. 👍

Thanks Ludvík- I have just ordered Tamiya's IL-2 to complete what I think were the most significant Soviet aircraft of the war.

Thanks Rui and Cuajete- I will start returning to normal model building output soon!

Andy, Sturmovik from Tamiya is the best choice. It is really nice kit with perfect engineering. You will like it. and result will be perfect.

Excellent work, Andy! (You mean, when you will get off the time-machine 😉 )
1 September 2022, 11:34

Great finish!!
Like the style of this plane, beautiful shapes and colors👍

@David: hope to start Il-2 this year, perhaps. I looked yours over and see what you mean that it is a really good build. Thanks for coming along on this journey, see you on the next, I hope.

@Robert: the time machine will go in for a service soon. I've rather exhausted it.
1 September 2022, 16:40

@Simon: it looks typical of Soviet design philosophy at the time, but look so colourful and almost USAAF? Thanks for the note.
1 September 2022, 16:41

@Guy, yes, I had a re-visit of yours over the course of tis build. I think we've found out the same on both builds. It's a good wee kit- not FW-190 good, but would put off anyone trying to better it.

Thanks Ł, whether you have or haven't nice to know you've been and had a look!
