Assembly

Album image #1
After a long break, because my little boy was born 🙂) and I started a new job in a totally new field of work... I have continued working on the KV-1 project in my micro freetime. Some dirt, color and highlight added to the top.

And the other perspective.

After some rusty tone I decided to try something new. The idea is to give more reality than previously by using stuff from the garden. Still not a diorama, but I would like to improve my skills. I will continue with weathering after the debris are totally fixed.

Dark steel and rusty tone of chipping is partly done. Engine cover is pretty good this time. 🙂

Today I used some oil paint on the turret. It is almost like a weathering step... and would be better after chipping, but I will give a try

Pinwash applied

Some progress has been made...

After Nightshift's inspired heavy chipping technique, I applied the decal, but I woefully destroyed one... So there was nothing I can do, I had to paint the decal at the right side by hand.

I tried the AK heavy chipping liquid at the first time to make a much more interesting base colour before oil paints and weathering.

Basecoat is applied. I mixed it from Tamiya XF-4, 57 and 58, because I don't have 4BO green currently.

Thats for today. The bolts, additional armor, headlight and some replaced parts are glued and basecoated.

Album image #18
And here is the picture about the glued bolts.

Album image #19
After some try, I made the acceptable diameter of the plastic. Some afterwork with the knife, and I have the bolt material.

Making the bolts. The fun part. 🙂)

I found some pictures about the original kv-1 which has the text as the kit's decal, but the original tank has this additional armor. Unfortunately, the kit does not contain this armor, so to save this good decal and visual source I decided to build my own.
