Dystopian Rest Stop
Cutting out some of the glass so some of the windows are open.
Driver's door off, now just have to re-attach somehow in the open position. Still undecided on exterior colour of the truck at the moment.
Front chassis completed.
Rear chassis now completed.
Tired old headlining.
Fitted rubber mats of course, don't want the carpet to get dirty.
Seat belts added with centre column.
Dash in.
Door cards in.
Sill built up for the open door. The eagle -eyed may have spotted the addition of a seat recliner lever.
A start on the flatbed.
Some minor scuffage added.
Some water bottles, rubbish and dog blanket added. CB radio handset also added to the dash.
First pass at weathering the body.
Truck is nearly complete.
Ugh, driver's side headlamp lens didn't go in well. Will have to dig it out and reposition.
A start on the German Shepherds.
Dogs are done.
Nearing completion, figuring out base and scene composition now. Some home made bull bars added and figures finished.
Final Build Photos
The snorkel is scratch built from a couple of pieces of cut and bent plastic sprue from the kit.
The scratch built bull bars stand up to close up photos better than I thought they might.
I think the single most pleasing aspect of this build was the way my jeans turned out. It was seeing this figure that inspired the build so I wanted to do her justice.
Another couple of bits of scratch built accessorizing with the roof rack and CB aerial.

Thanks guys, interior's done now as I've got the body on and don't really want to have to take it off again. Thankfully the sitting dog does fit through the window so can add him in once he's done. The flatbed doesn't fit the best but that's on too, and hopefully stays in the right place. Both figures and the dogs have finally arrived so we can crack on now.

Thanks all. Spanjaard if you look very closely you might just notice the front driver's side wheel is also white instead of silver like the rest, but it's difficult to see now under the mud and grime. It's more noticeable in pic 25 before it got covered.

Some photos of the completed build, not had much time today as one of the kids off sick so will try to add more after the weekend. Some final additions to the truck with the roof rack, CB aerial and a rear registration plate, oh and some side indicators which aren't on the front wings of the kit.

The details and setting really add tremendously, to what was already a superb build 🙂 Congratulations on your creation.

Thanks Bruce and Spanjaard, a few fiddly bits and sweary moments with my biffer fingers towards the end but it all came out well. Getting the chain to go round the roof rack wasn't particularly fun.

Thanks guys, figure painting was my thing years ago so it's fun to get back into it and see them come alive as the paint goes on.

Album info
Hopefully, once the figures arrive, this will eventually be a small diorama with my two survivors and their scavenged Toyota Hilux pick-up loaded with their booty and the two dogs which they have stopped to exercise. The beauty of building a beat up truck is that if something goes wrong you can just incorporate it into the character of the build.
