PT-17 Stearman (Commission work)
Hand-painted wooden prop. Dark color first, followed by the lighter color BRUSHED on. After the enamel dried for 3 hours, I used a brush dampened with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner to feather-out the painted brush strokes into a much more realistic wood grain pattern.
YAHU instrument panels
Spark plug wires added to all engine cylinders
A total of 38 holes drilled with a #95 bit
Vallejo Satin Mecha Varnish leaves the perfect “scale sheen” instead of using gloss, which would be far too glossy for a tiny aircraft.
Empennage fully rigged using only 2 pieces of USCHI rigging
USCHI rigging fed through 38 #95 sized holes, stretched (30%), taped in place and super glued.
She’s nearing completion!
She’s finally complete and going to her new owner next week. I built it for a coworker on commission as a tribute to his grandfather who flew them in Navy flight training during WWII.

Looks good, Robert! I have the aftermarket Yahu instrument-panels for my Stearman build. What seatbelt are those?
