HMS Bounty Build
Gun ports cut out square instead of the circle on kit.
Rails cut to depict hinged rising bar above steps. Still need to make the upright supports.
Fore pin rails were originally moulded in the wrong position (red circles denote original moulding position) according to the Admiralty diagrams. Removed them leaving small bollards as per plans.
Fore pin rail cleaned up and waiting to be glued into correct position.
Port fore pin rail attached correctly.
Hawse hole drilled through hull as no holes are on the kit. The deck needs to be dropped slightly at the bow when fitted.
Testing hawse hole with hawse line.
Holes for the anchors need plugging and filling.
Holes plugged using the securing tabs from the anchors and Revell Plasto.
Piece of 0.5mm styrene sheet glued on to inside of the hull to stop plug from falling through.
Swivel gun stanchions removed and replaced with scratch built ones made from off cuts of sprue. They look more the ones in the plans. Only seven more to do.
Pilot holes also drilled into stanchions for swivel guns.
Lots of ejector pin marks on the deck filled with Plasto.
Marks dry and sanded down smooth. Deck planks now need re-scribing.
Windlass had a big sink hole in it. I could have left it as it will face the deck, but I knew it was there and it annoyed me.
Drilling the holes in the windlass.
I think I got a bit above myself with this one. I sanded the deck down as I felt the moulded planks were too small. I attempted to re-scribe the planks, but the deck was too flexible and I lost my lines. It looks awful, I know, but I don't think I can sand it down again and re do it.
Lesson for next time - make a jig or a support for the deck before attempting to do this job.

The top mast tops are cut and ready for shaping when the time comes to fit them.
On a more positive note, I am happy with my rudder and tiller for the launch.
Scrolls for the stern gallery
After many attempts at this, I finally made a flag locker I am pleased with ...
... and it fits. Just need to put the roof on it. I have already made a new, longer tiller to replace the silly little one in the kit.
Mast top rails as they are not included in kit.
Reference for rails
Headrail modifications ...
... and their reference.
