P-51D Mustang Italeri 1/72
"How to Apply Aluminium Foil"

Hi everyone. Here's my 1:72 P-51D Mustang based on the Italeri kit (n° 086). I didn't use any aftermarket items to enhance this kit. It took me 2 years to finish this kit as I decided to apply aluminum foil over the fuselage. The kit was hand painted using Humbrol enamel paints.
The Italeri kit has several flaws that could be corrected. The major flaw is located on the windshield which has a too steep frontal angle which needs to be corrected to properly render the shape of the Mustang.
This was corrected by using plastic card that was placed at the base of the windshield.
70% of the cockpit was made of thick aluminum foil (including the harness and seat buckles). This project required a lot of work and elbow grease. I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures.
