The newly founded Danish Air Force operated 3 Spitfire PR. Mk. XI in the period 1947-1955, ex-RAF aircraft numbered 42-451, 42-452 and 42-453. All three were scrapped, very few photos exist and none of those are colour photos.
By the looks of it, this is a very nice and detailed kit, but with the following issues:
1) You have to drill and fill the camera port in the left-hand side of the fuselage (behind the cockpit) yourself, the instructions suggesting using Kristal Klear. At least on the Danish aircraft, this port appears to be teardrop-shaped, and not circular. I‘ll probably stamp out a round piece of clear plastic and insert in a hole of the same size; don‘t think the difference will be too noticeable in this scale.
2) The lower, front edge of the windshield is straight; it should be curve blending nicely in with the curved side edges
3) 42-451 and 42-452 had rear view mirrors, this is unfortunately not included in the kit.
4) The shape of the „1“ in the serial number is wrong.
Interestingly, an earlier Alley Cat PR XI conversion has exactly the same issues as in 3) and 4), including the same, wrong number shape….
In view of 1)-4), it‘ll probably be a straight out-of-the-box build…
