Ramcke Brigade - El Alamein, 23rd October 1942

At 21:40 on 23rd October 1941 the 2nd battle of El Alamein started with Operation Lightfoot and a 1000 gun barrage. As part of a secondary attack to the south of the El Alamein line, 7th Armoured Division hoped to pin down the 21st Panzer and Ariete Divisions but met stubborn resistance from the Ramcke Parachute Brigade.
