The air intake on this kit needs to be rebuilt. It's not too difficult. Worse is the flash on the nose cone. Mine was a blob of plastic that needed to be filed down to shape.

Thank you for your tip Skyhiker 👍 but when i start to correct the mistakes of this kit where does it end ? How did you rebuilt the air intake at your kit ?

It's been awhile since I finished this kit. I think what I did was separate part of the top half and put a styrene sheet in there. Here is a photo: P-51 D Mustang | Album by Skyhiker (1:72)

The Velejo decal soft worked ok on my Tamiya Harrier.....The roundals definitely needed good dose.
Good softener.

What a beautiful scratch you're doing in such a small kit. This is Unbelievable 😮 at least for a person with tired eyes like me. Do you use a microscope? 😄

Rui, these days I can barely find my work bench without my optivisor. 😄 😄
David, I do it because I like the challenge as well...and I can't write symphonies. Scratch-building in 1/72 also gives me a chance to practice swearing. I'm getting quite good at it now. 😳
Thanks all for tagging along. 🙂

Thanks Lukasz. 🙂
The original intention was to do a quick out of the box build...then I saw what was missing and I've sort of got carried away. 🙂

Another scratch project? I am of course in 👍. A wee bit of a depressing preamble (lots of which I identify with), hope you are ok mate 👍.
Excellent progress btw.

Sorry Alex, I thought I'd attached the (very basic) kit to the project, and I'm fine - thanks mate.
Thanks all, I'm enjoying adding a few bits to this thing and glad you like it. 🙂

Thank you so much, Cuajete. Just out of the box and a Hasegawa old model that is still astounding. Let me see what Will happen with the Airfix FA.2.
Gracias ,amigo!

Thank you, Mr D. Japanese kits for SHARS are very accurate in my experience. Both Fujimi and Hasegawa, even being old kits will be the backbone of my future Harrier wing. Now I am working on Airfix SHAR FA.2 and I found the assembly better (in some points) but with some features (as canopy and cockpit assembly) worse that older kits. Italeri ones seem better than Airfix, but I think some details are missing.
Tamiya is a 1:48 nice model I only saw once in my life (a 'rara avis' in m local shops) but, apart from the fact that has the usual Tamiya high quality standard, seems to be a kit for the experienced modeler.
Yours looks awesome.

Great to follow your SHAR builds Sergio! Really inspiring👍🏻
Friendly advice on the Tamiya 1:48 SHAR kit. This kit is not even close to the usual Tam standard & quality we all are used to. It is a really poor kit.
I didn't do my homework, bought the kit & was badly suprised by the quality. I took the approach to build the model to improve my modeling skills. Put in some scrachwork and a lot of aftermarket stuff to get it to a decent level.

Thanks Sergio 😃👍
As J35 said the Tamiya kit has it's short falls and requires extra work it doesn't have the side air intakes on the engine inlets.
It was a gift l was given so l built it best l could.
Like the Museum SHAR photo..... Good one for reference 👍

No exactly the same at FAA Museum: the SHAR at the Museum is XZ493, that has been always a FRS.1, while my model is the XZ495, that underwent reconstruction in the 90s to become a FA.2., being tranferred to 899 NAS. Now, as far a I know, XZ495 is under restoration to become a Museum piece.

These daylight pics show the shading even better 👍 Nice base btw, the grass looks very realistic, where did you find it?

Well Lukasz the grass is a big mat of the brand mininatur.de that you can cut to size.
I just used a old photoframe and whipped that up in about 15 min, sprayed it a bit over with some vallejo cam light green
It isn't a permanent base, but good enough for taken pictures

Great build! Did you use Tamiya smoke for the pre=shade?, I've always thought 'smoke' is a good way of adding variation to paint.
