While waiting for some paints to arrive in the mail to continue my MiG-23 build project, I decided to do a very quick build of the Eduard L-39 in my stash. This kit is labeled as a "weekend" build, which might be a bit optimistic for me, but should still be a quick progress.

Do you already have a plan for the shades you're going to use? I found the L-39 classic camouflage very hard to get right. I hope you'll have more luck with it.

For the Hungarian standard camo, MRP has released an entire set, consisting of MRP-351 Brown, MRP-352 Dark Green and MRP-353 Light Blue.

Yesterday I spent some time comparing the hue and tint of the MRP paints with my own mix of Tamiya acrylics (as described in photo 26 above), and found them to be absolutely identical. I also found the MRP paints much too smelly and aggressive and hard to adjust if you want to blend in slightly varying tones in panels etc. The Tamiyas can furthermore be used for extremely diluted thin filter applications, while the MRP are block solid.

Well done on those paints!
I agree with you, Tamiya paints spray great and don't smell nearly as nasty as MRP's.

I see you mixed too much of this colour and used it on the background 😋
Lovely preshading, sth I don't have enough patience for

Most impressive stuff. Each and every model would have deserved an album of its own. Very good photography too.

WOW! The ships are particularly stunning. I agree with Michael, they each deserve their own album.

Nice! 🙂
Question: Are you selective about which scale model kit to build, and do you place limits on yourself? For example, setting a limit to how much you want to clean up or fix a flawed scale model kit.

Nice start👍. Looking forward to your build. I´am curious to see the pros and cons of the kit.

I didn't dare to cut main weels bays, I just swore loudly at Trumpeter)
And there are some other remakes need to be done to make "A' from this model...

Many thanks , mates 😉
For those who wish to assemble this model, it will be necessary to plan a little surgery on the main landing gear bays.
Other than that, I will say that the kit is better than Italeri or Fujimi but that's just my opinion. The level of detail is much higher than the other two

Jaw dropping detailing -as usally! All looks so easy and still perfectly clean and we all know how hard this is (especially in 72) - great job!

Many thanks,
For the moment, I don't find any difficulty in building this kit.
I only used putty in the air intakes, the fitting is quite good

Dearest readers,
For those who would like to build this model but are not happy about having to open the gear hatches, you should know that these famous hatches can be closed on the ground. Yesterday, I found a photo which attests to the thing in the book "lock on" by Verlinden. These hatches are closed manually by the ground mechanics during a prolonged stop of the plane, a sort of storage, this avoids FOD. Of course, this is very rare, but nevertheless it is possible. Also, it's up to you 😉

A tadpole I can see. But at least it's not a FROG or you would have your work cut out for you. 😉

Beautiful work so far, especially love the paint scheme with tan nose - that's what I'd like to build as well. I found some pictures with the "NE" on tail in the same paint scheme, so hope to avoid aftermarket decals. Just got the same kit, so have to follow this thread 🙂
Is the "Hobbyboss" in the album title a joke or a mistake?

Absolutely lovely job. I built the Eduard A5 light fighter variant a few years back and it was probably the nicest 1:48 aircraft model I've built in terms of fit and detail. That's a really nice workstation you have there, too! Great work again.
