A friend in our local model club gave me a kit he purchased some time ago. The kit is from 1980. He also got a PE kit for the aircraft in question but not necessarily for the exact kit. A lot of the plastic was supposed to be REPLACED by the PE but I just 'added' to it ad hoc.
*I became really interested in the story behind the aircraft - as reports have it that it had some good success against B-17, B-24 and B-29s.

I have started assembly. I read in a modellers subReddit an opinion on PE parts - good for larger scale models but maybe lost in 1/72.... Let's see when this aircraft is finished! 🙂

I use quick shine as a satin finish coat for decals and between weathering. I let it dry over night but the finish is still susceptible to becoming flat where the decal softener is used (I don't think it was the panel liner) and it looked like splotches of flat finish around the satin finish. This unwanted look disappeared after the use of Tamiya flat clear coat applications and the result was consistent across the surfaces.

That's a cool idea using a car sponge to hold the model. I think I will have to get one.

Regarding the Gnat, use white or pink (really!) as a base coat for yellow and it covers in fewer coats. Tamiya's yellow is probably better than most but it's still a difficult color to work with.

Hi Gorby 👋
Thanks 👍 l wanted a ZiL to put beside my Beriev ( got to painted today) The ZiL kits didn't look that great for the money, l like scratch building up little bits so got a cheap M-35 4D kit unfortunately they didn't do a ZiL.
it's ABS so all work in S-glue.

Hi Skyhiker 👋.
This was my first Album, it was made up before l knew how to sort individual projects ect.
I wasn't to sure if l would find the 4D M35 kit ... So just added it the old album.
I have organised some projects out of it. .. l do move the photos of the current build up to the front.
But it is a bit of a mess that album..🤣

So far it's certainly been interesting 🙂 It's that I already had these parts and decided on this before Asuka announced their M4A3 (105 mm) kit, but I would advise anyone else wanting an M4 (105 mm) to just buy that kit and order an M4 engine deck from Asuka to put into it … (And make some other modifications, of course, like changing the rear hull to match.)

Thanks. I just hope it matches up with the molded pattern reasonably well once there's some paint over it 🙂

You're like like a Messi compared to my Sunday league footballer in modelling terms. I mean, I even made a couple of mistakes on a recent airfix vintage kit 😇😂😂😂
