Revell 1/24 Büssing 8000 S 13
Finally starting this large 1950s German truck that I received from my father a few years ago. It’s a large box with quite a few sprues inside. Tooling is from the 90s. Not sure if I will add the soft canvas tarp or leave the bed open yet. Will try to keep as an entirely OOB build.
The box takes up most of my desk. I’ll need to find some more room to put all the sprues and move some of my other projects off the desk.
90s Revell Germany instructions
Some of the sprues are significantly warped. This ”F” sprue contains the frame rails for the chassis.
Front on view of “F” sprue. Warping is evident at the top. There is a designed bend in the frame rails, but I don’t think it is supposed to be that much!
Original decals that came with the kit
The decals are significantly yellowed. Doubt I’ll be able to save these. I might need to make my own or order some aftermarket.
“A” sprue containing cross members and suspension components. Minor flash all around and numerous ejector pin marks.
Detail is not too bad on some pieces considering the age of the kit. The rear differential has “Bussing” embossed on the cover.
Some parts even have some welds on them. Although on some pieces they might be machining marks from when they made the tool… but I can pretend!
Starting with assembling the chassis frame. Hopefully once together the rails will straighten out.
Bend in the chassis before assembly
All the sprues were in one single bag. I could hear a few loose pieces rattling around in the bag. Managed to find a leaf spring shackle.
Base frame with crossmembers assembled. Still a little bit of twist in the rails, but much better than it was.
