IAI Kfir dual build

Album image #1
Printed some MB Mk.10 seats, not sure when they fitted the Kfirs with them. Initially there seem to be Mk.4s in them, but they changed the ejection seats to the Mk.10 in C2, C7 or C10 version.

Added some sidepanels with raised details, not sure if this stays like that. Lots of fit issues, lots of filling, sanding and the fuselage parts are twisted.

Album image #4
Huge gaps, filling, sanding...

Album image #5
Intakes after sanding, dryfitting, sanding... just some more sanding and some filler and more sanding...

Album image #6
getting there... just a couple of days of filling and sanding away from an acceptable result 😉

Album image #7
Filled and sanded, some rescribing already done.

IDF camo scheme, parts masked, parts freehand.

Left one gets the Atac camo, right one already has the decals on the bottom.

Album image #22
Atac decals from the AMK kit, combined with the very few Italeri ones. Thankfully the ATAC Kfirs are very clean.

Done lots of filling and sanding to get the wing and the fuselage of the first Kfir to fit. Started rescribing and getting the second on to the same state.

I also got this kit (the Italeri one) when I was child, in the middle of the '90's. So it's an awful kit, but that time wasn't better. So, I'm curious for the result.

Welcome István! The Revell is just a rebox of the Italeri kit with nicer decals and a different instruction manual 😉

Nice start, I remember building this kit as a two tone grey Israeli bird a long time ago. Which scheme are you going with?

The Revell one has only decals for the camo scheme, so the Italeri one will be the grey one. Maybe I get my hands on the AMK kit before I get to the decals, then the Italeri will maybe get the Atac livery.
But first there will be some more sanding and filling the sink marks that are now visible. I also made some scribing mistakes, so this needs some putty as well.

Decided to go with the Atac camo with the Italeri Kfir. The Revell one already has the Isralei camo and decals on the undeside. Also I broke off the petot tube again. This time it stays off until the last moment.

Small update from the last couple of weeks: decals from the AMK kit for the Kfir 401 from Atac were applied, along with some from the Italerim kit itself. Also the landing gear was attached to both aircraft. Ready for final smaller paintjobs, weathering and some antennae and the landing gear bay doors.

Album info

I really like the story and the looks of the Kfir jet. In my stash I got the Revell and Italeri boxes, both tooled by Italeri and with a rather dubious reputation.
After looking at the kit and some dryfitting, I doubted that I get the motivation to start this kit a second time. So I decided to build them in parallel 😉
