It's in 1/542,such a weird scale. It's a big kit! Where will I display this one?

It looks alright,I just want more aircraft. There's only 15,I want to make a flight deck during flight ops. Do you know where I could find 1/500 modern US Navy aircraft?

Brandon it's an odd scale for ships. I dont know if you will be able to find what you need to fill the flight deck. Tthere are some 1/350 and 1/700 planes out there. Look online or ebay you mite get lucky.

I'm looking now,how big of a difference is 1/350 and 1/500? I found a pack of 25 modern US Navy aircraft in 1/350

It should be in the program of Revell germany, you can write them a mail and they will send you some pieces. You need to give them the number of the kit the number of the sprue and of the parts.

Starfighter decals makes resin planes in this odd scale, pricy though like all resin. The kit is ok and good considering the tooling is as old as the real ship. Nice but dated tooling out of the box, spend some money on GMM etch and other aftermarket resin and it makes a stunning model. Price of this though is several times the price of the basic kit......

Duncan,I'm looking for E-2s and SH-60s of course those aren't in the kit.
Roy,I don't usually use Etch,I sometimes use resin though. I'll check them out,thanks

Brandon, the 1/350 is about 1.5 time larger than 1/500 but if you just cant find any 1/500 scale planes you could use 1/350. but dont mix them with the kit planes our you will notice a big difference. At that scale non-modeler would not be able to know the difference. And remember it's our model.

I think I'll stick with the planes in thr kit,they're pretty nice for out of box

Go for it. I may see the guy from Starfighter decals at my club's contest in March.
I will check and see if he has the 1/500 scale planes with him and get some for you
