The "WS" tail code is the visual recognition system. In cases where you are flying and can't see anything but the WS, you know that the squadron is VMF -323 Death Rattlers. WE was -214, WT was -232, LW and VW was -314 (depending on year), etc. Higher first letters meant West Coast, lower first letters meant East Coast. (that is of course, as of date of implementation of the system,,,,,it only took a couple of years for it to break down, with squadrons like -235 (DB) being assigned to Hawaii, etc)

That is a much older one, Gunther. If Joe Hegedus is on here, he could tell you a bit about using that chart to model with. I think he finished, but, he had a collection going that would include at least one aircraft with each of those recognition patterns on it. And even that system was only in place for a short time,,,,,there were about 4 systems in WW II, before the multiple post war letter code systems were introduced.

Hi Augie the same mark I'm trying at the Hobby Boss Corsair to create,
Unfortunately, the kit has a lot of errors, the wingtips are missing completely, or the weapon barrels are clearly too short, only oberflächliges, but at a cost of more than 30 Euro but annoying
compared Hasegawa / Revell and Tamiya get easy score
I like your great model 👍

Augie, I am doing the 'circuit' at the moment, meaning, I am looking in on all albums that are being posted all the time here, and I finally got to your build, and as always, no disappointment in your typical quality and finness mate.🙂
I can always depend on seeing a prime example of patience and care. 🙂👍 👍 👍.

It ceases to amaze me what you can do with a brush! My first attempt at trying Humbrol enamels in the airbrush was rather disappointing.
