The weathering was done to suit the Spanish Civil War. Those tanks mainly ran on grass tundra, so I have kept the mud to a minimum, unlike the BT-7 on the Eastern Front which were often mud soaked.

Great model, Harry!👍 (Hey, Harry Houdini is not your real name I asssume. 😉)
It seems like it is not really necessary to stick to the expensive Tamiya-Kit to build a nice model of the BT-7. The Zvezda-Kit with Eduard-PEs goes a long way as well.

Was worth it in the end Harry. I have followed your youtube build on it so I can hopefully learn to be a better modeller.

In the end I did spend a bit on extras to get it to the look I wanted but still less in total than the price of a new Tamiya kit! The barrel for $2 and PE for $10 takes this kit to a whole new level even better than Tamiya.. its just the track links I could not live with.. but there is a solution to fix them if you build OOB

Looks amazing! I was wondering if the Bronco tracks are worth it (here they cost as much as the entire BT-7), but it seems like they are!

I was lucky to get the Bronco Track links for half price... however later on I discovered a trick of hiding the repair in the kits link and length tracks by taking out one of the rear bottom single links. This hides the mismatched join under the rear drive wheel and has been a successful solution by others to fix the oversized tracks supplied in the kit.

The full build is on Youtube if you are interested, showing the track link issue and how I solved a number of problems with the kit.
