Just studying the new catalogues for the model year 2016. To my surprise I had to realize that Hobby BOSS Gets lost in silly 9 (nine) Versions of a ME 262, moreover 15 (fifteen!!!) Versions of a F4U Corsair to name the real bizarre highlights of the catalogue. Trumpeter gets lost in three versions of e.g. MIG 31 or MIG 27 , talk less of Jaguars or Skyhawks. I am really a model fan, but not that enthusiastic to buy 9 , talk less of 15 versions of basically same aircraft. Which store will keep this diversity , it is the death of conventional model shops who just can't keep all versions on stock. If these variants finally all appear on the market remains another mystery, some 2014 announcements are yet to reach product status. Instead of getting lost in versions, they should rather bring really new models or new scales.

agreed... but their production line is optimized for profit, not for sanity and modellers needs 🙁

Are they really making profit to keep 15 basically same versions (Even Same scale) in separate stock keeping units? I understand that product unit costs get reduced the less modification you need to do to sell them as different product, but come on , 15 versions of the same Plane, that is really sick! And way beyond being economic 🙂

I agree.
They should do what they announced and more different kits. If not, make 9 in 1 or 15 in 1 boxes. 😉 😄

10 years ago, we would have been seeing very little in the way of subject matter, and what the main players were presenting the scale modeller was very limited indeed. These moulds would cost 100's of thousands of dollars to make because they were done by hand by tool makers, with the type of skills needed for the production of coins no less, but with the huge revolution in mould production via chemical and laser etching and engraving, plus a lot with the aide of CAD, and all with the ability to alter these moulds in any way shape or form with no dramas involved, and as a result, it has now become possible for rank outsiders, the previously "unknowns" to be able to enter the market, but, with a massive diversity in subject matter and many variations. (MiniArt) springs to mind here. But the detail found in kits today was only a pipe dream not that long ago, and it would served us all well to realise that without these advances, we would still be building models that look like they were made back in the stone age.
Don't begrudge them a profit, but be grateful you have it better now than you ever did. 🙂

As for quality i absolutelly ärgere with you, also the "startup" costs have gone down dramatically as CAD saves time and labour. I am happy about diversification but will never ever buy 15 versions because they are available. I rather go for that one perfect kit per scale. I guess i am mostly worried that After a rather boring 2015 i have to really invest Money to buy all new release of Russian jets for 2016....ooohhhhh!!! 🙂 🙂

mh... 9 versions of a ME262... among with all the other manufacturers - quite a bunch (not to mention 109's). But no sign (for instance) of one new tooled Do 228.

Yap.
Some people prefer to have 6 panzers IV, ausf x in their showcase, I prefer to have a Panzer I, a Panzer II, a Panzer III, a Panzer IV, a Panther and a Tiger...
If you get my drift... 😉

Taste is not discussed 😎 but don't forget that sometimes is just a question of different decals.

I guess that for the enthusiasts among us the diversification is "heaven" , and for sure even 30 versions will be bought if available. I would never judge on this as I am also an addict 🙂
