Thank you guys! Only small progress today but those Eduard pe-parts are so great to work with - it's a pleasure. Next time I'll add some colour.

Scalemates is full of artist...I like the work, very nice, ice

16 December 2016, 07:29
ice
Thank you so much! It's so much more fun when so many people recon your work.
Today it was painting time. Many layers more to come... 🙂
16 December 2016, 22:02

i'll take a seat here, the Airfix kit has another level off detail than the Revell.
19 December 2016, 13:27

I'm in ! 🙂

Great work so far!
19 December 2016, 14:32

Very cool project, Ice! The pit looks very convincing, your extra detailing adds much realism!
19 December 2016, 15:01
ice
Thank you guys. I'm starting to get nervous because of all the "pros" watching... 😳
20 December 2016, 00:19
Marc A.
How stunning work, ice keep it up mate
20 December 2016, 01:07
Clifford Keesler
Awesome job so far.
20 December 2016, 18:03
ice
I don't like the Airfix troopseats. They don't look like canvas - more like solid material. I made a "ladder" from plastic-rod and then made a seating surface from aluminum.
And it was time for some pe-banding. Sandfilter and front door are ready.
22 December 2016, 15:04
Holger Kranich
And both Looks great so far! Do you plan to Display the front door open?
22 December 2016, 15:30
ice
Yes, of course. Otherwise I wouldn't need the pe-door. When ready it will be folded with all doors opened. Just as did with my Merlin.
23 December 2016, 12:01
ice
Did some work on the folding tail. It doesn't look like a big deal but it took some hours. Later a photoetched grid will be placed over the holes.
27 December 2016, 21:22
Marc A.
Its the first step, for sure its well understood. keep working, mate!
27 December 2016, 21:40
Adam Gudynowski
Nice detailing 🙂
27 December 2016, 22:36
Scott Hastings
Following along for sure!!!Some great detailing. Did not realize there was a NEW Airfix kit...I just got the old one with PE. Is there a big difference???
28 December 2016, 01:33
Bart Meeldijk
Ice, extremely cool! I hope you will do the arctic scheme!!?
28 December 2016, 20:56
ice
I will! 🙂
Today I worked on the hinge, because the putty on the pylon needs to dry. 2 hours and now my eyes need a break.
28 December 2016, 21:29
Clifford Keesler
Nice looking tail boom.
29 December 2016, 20:57
ice
Thank you! Did some more work on the tail boom. I can see light at the end of the tunnel...
30 December 2016, 21:16
ice
@Scott Hastngs: Huge difference! Airfix made an enormous step forward.
30 December 2016, 23:21

Worked on the hinge and the tailrotor.

Interior update. Soundproofing is in place.
7 January 2017, 16:33
Łukasz Gliński
Nice idea with the soundprofing, I like that concept
7 January 2017, 17:36
Markus Antonius
depressed again...
7 January 2017, 18:06
Zsolt Czegle
Awsome! Great work!! 👍
7 January 2017, 18:16
ice
@Markus: Why depressed?
@Zsolt: Thank you. I hope it'll look good with color on it and a wash.
7 January 2017, 23:31
David Thor
This will be a real beauty, keep up the good work!
8 January 2017, 00:54
Marc A.
That interior looks prety awesome! I find your sandwich bag technic very interesting, I use green stuff to create the effect, but I will use yout method if in the end looks like I expect. Keep it up mate!
8 January 2017, 07:12
Burkhard D
Scale modeling at its best. Nice photo chronicle, too.😎
8 January 2017, 08:15
Soeren R.
Awesome work so far!
8 January 2017, 09:42
ice
Thank you mates!
@Marc: That was my second idea but I'm not very good in sculpting surfaces.
@Burkhard: What I learned about modelling, I learned by myself. But even more i learned from other modellers in the internet. So I like WIP's that show how people solve problems ore create things and I hope I can give a back a little bit to other modellers by doing so.
8 January 2017, 18:58
Marc A.
Well... it looks great for me!, thanks for showing us your techs. And of course people will thanks your contribution and the explanation. Good luck boddy
8 January 2017, 19:07
Clifford Keesler
Looking awesome.
9 January 2017, 17:17
Christian Bruer
mmmhhh missed this so far. Nice work and extra details 👍 I will follow.
9 January 2017, 19:54
ice
This build is very much fun but your compliments give so much extra-motivation. Thank you all so much!

Only a small update today - Clear cote for the cabin (first time using Tamiya and not Future) and I started painting the tailrotor. The side walls with the clear cote on it look quite convincing.
9 January 2017, 21:11
bughunter
Damn good work on all areas, PE, plastic, wiring, scratching ... Keep on going this way!
9 January 2017, 21:40
Clifford Keesler
Outstanding.
13 January 2017, 22:03
Adam Gudynowski
Amazing...
14 January 2017, 09:02
ice
Thank you mates!
Only small progress but I wanted to show, that the build isn't on hold. The upper part of the soundproofing got a light grey wash and I had to cut a little bit of it to make the fuselage halves fit together properly. I also had to loot THREE Revell Sea King-Kits to get all the benches. Most of the seats will be in folded position, so I don't have to scratchbuild to much of the undercarriage for the troopseats. I also painted the tailrotor a little bit more but there are some more layers to come.
15 January 2017, 15:40
Marc A.
Very nice, mate...
15 January 2017, 19:03
ice
Made some progress on the seats and the tailrotor.
29 January 2017, 20:32
Marc A.
Looks good, ice
29 January 2017, 21:39
Aaron Liles
Excellent skills. The detailing is fantastic.
29 January 2017, 22:40
ice
¡Muchas gracias!
Sometimes it's better to follow the instructions. I totally forgot to close the sidewindow behind the sliding door. Luckily it wasn't too late. I also continued to work on the troopseats. That's a routine piece of work and takes quite a lot of time.
31 January 2017, 16:51
Marc A.
Well ice, just in time...sometimes, just happen. looking good mate
1 February 2017, 14:49
Clifford Keesler
Looking very good!
1 February 2017, 19:40
ice
The folded troopseats are done and I made 2 fire extinguishers. For the troopseats I bought another Eduard pe-set. In case I destroy the windshield when removing the windshield wipers, I got me a 2nd kit. Better safe than sorry.
11 February 2017, 15:14
Zsolt Czegle
I'm very curious how you remove the windshield wipers! Photos please!! 😄
11 February 2017, 16:18
ice
Me too....🤔
I had another hour so I made the most important part of a Westland Sea King - the relief tube (toilet).
11 February 2017, 20:29
Marc A.
looking very gorgeous, ice "thumbs up" mate
11 February 2017, 20:47
ice
Today all of the time was used to get rid of the windscreen wipers. I don't know why the companies think it's a good idea to cast them right on the clear parts...
19 February 2017, 18:10
Spanjaard
nice. like they were never there.... how did you polish it?
19 February 2017, 21:06
ice
Thank you Spanjaard. I used toothpaste and a small multitool with a polishing wheel. Worked better than I thoight.
19 February 2017, 22:00
Murad ÖZER
now that's proper dental hygiene! looking incredible ice, probably even better than it was before.
19 February 2017, 22:07
Spanjaard
toothpaste? i would have never thought of that 🙂 i have to try that 🙂
20 February 2017, 19:34
Łukasz Gliński
I heard about that toothpaste trick many times, but never achieved acceptable results to be honest and turned toward gauzy agent instead - but your example is unbelievably transparent
20 February 2017, 19:46
Spanjaard
maybe it is a question of the right toothpaste ?😉 which one are you using Ice?
20 February 2017, 20:00
Marc A.
ice, Spanjaard Why do not you use the tamiya polishing paste?. Have you tried it?. its great stuff yo have it over the bench😉
20 February 2017, 20:25
Spanjaard
Hi Marc, i have tamiya polishing products, but i think i did not get good results with it in transparent parts.....
20 February 2017, 20:33
Bart Meeldijk
Ice, do also have an idea for the external cargo hook/system? I hit that part on my HC.4 now...
20 February 2017, 20:37
ice
Wow - so much nice feedback! I feel honored guys.
I used some cheap toothpaste from the local discounter. It's good to look out for some toothpaste with whitening effect, because it has more abrasive parts in it, I think.
The stuff for polishing handy displays should work too.
@Bart Meeldijk: Didn't think of that yet. If you have an idea, I would like to hear it. 🙂
Do you have any pics of your build?
20 February 2017, 20:46
Spanjaard
thanks Ice 🙂
20 February 2017, 20:51
Bart Meeldijk
I'll put some pics in album/project. Not finished yet - working on a terrible MD500 now :-/
21 February 2017, 12:38
Ronan
Hi Ice, your Sea king is still in progress or stopped ?
31 August 2017, 09:38
Choppa Nutta
awesome details ! 🙂
31 August 2017, 09:44
ice
I paused this build when I started the SH-60B for the ARC-groupbuild. I'll continue when the SH-60B is done.

Thank you Choppa!
31 August 2017, 19:18
Ronan
OK thank you Ice 🙂 i will follow this build , lots of nice details
31 August 2017, 21:09
ice
I know your helicopters in the same scale and knowing, that you follow this build makes me feel honoured and a little bit scared at the same time. 🙂
31 August 2017, 21:26
Ronan
Your model is inspiring for me too 🙂
2 September 2017, 07:26
David Thor
Really hope the SH-60B is done soon.😉
2 September 2017, 09:16
David Funke
Nice work! I´m watching...
2 September 2017, 10:38
Cuajete
Fantastic work. Following.
2 September 2017, 17:59
ice
Seahawk is done - Sea King is on the bench again. 🙂
I have to finish the interior so I made - I have not idea what it is but I saw it on reference pictures looks like some insulated pipes or something else. It was my first use of milliput. I also had to make some intercom cables from 0,1mm wire and first aid kits for hanging around at the walls.
29 October 2017, 21:18
Spanjaard
so you will "relax" your eyes with the "much bigger" scale of 1/72?😉
29 October 2017, 21:25
ice
So to say... 😄
29 October 2017, 21:35
Ronan
😄
29 October 2017, 22:18
Harry Eder
Nice to see some progress again on your Sea King 🙂
30 October 2017, 06:54
ice
Sunday - my "I don't have to rund day" and I finally got some time for the Sea King.
I added the first aid packs, the first intercom cable and the fire extinguishers. I tried to detail the seat in the back a little bit more but I don't know if I keep it that way. The legs look quite thick now.
12 November 2017, 13:37
ice
And I spotted the HUGE ejection mark on the wall between cockpit and cargo area... 😳
12 November 2017, 13:38
Ronan
Hello Ice 🙂
I agree with you : the legs of the seat are too thick
12 November 2017, 14:25
ForestFan
Wow!
12 November 2017, 21:16
Bernhard Pethe
Das sieht alles sehr gut aus. 🙂
14 November 2017, 13:56
ice
@Ronan: Satisfied? 😄

@ForestFan: Thanks mate!

@Bernhard: Du weißt, dass du für mich das große Vorbild in Sachen 1/72 Helis bist und darum einfach nur DANKE! 🙂

@all: I had to redo the legs of the seat so I started with some wire and ended up with a completely new frame...
14 November 2017, 21:14
bughunter
The seat looks perfect now! Good, that you have redone it. As always: with a good reference (+ tools and scratch material) it is easier to convert ideas into details 🙂
14 November 2017, 21:50
Ronan
Sure, it's better like that😉 very nice
14 November 2017, 22:44
Mike Daniels
Some serious detail going on here. Love the canvas seats. Following.
15 November 2017, 00:36

This looks brilliant do far! Definitely watching.
15 November 2017, 05:45
Martin Oostrom
Seat please!
15 November 2017, 07:40
Harry Eder
👍 🙂
15 November 2017, 11:38
Holger Kranich
👍
Bernhard hat schon alleine mit dem Rotorkopf von seinem seaking sehr weit vorgelegt.
Da bin ich jetzt wirklich auf dein Ergebnis gespannt.
Aber das sieht ja jetzt schon verflucht gut aus!
15 November 2017, 13:10
Bart Goesaert
looking good so far...
15 November 2017, 13:58
Scott Hastings
Looking great, impressed with your work. I am a victim of "I will just touch this part up" and wind up redoing the whole kit. I made the entire internals of old 1/72 Airfix FAA Sea King just to give it some life as was completely void inside otherwise. One of my favourite model builds so far...it is in my projects. Cheers, Scott
15 November 2017, 17:22
Dan Cook
Great work. Inspirational
15 November 2017, 20:22
Clifford Keesler
Awesome.
15 November 2017, 20:23
ice
The overwhelming positive resonance to this project gives me so much extra motivation. The Sea King in all of its variants is my favourite helicopter and I really try do it justice. Thank you all for your support. 👍

@Holger: I just ordered a little surprise for that special area. 😄

@Scott: You have built a wonderful Sea King with nice interior. The lights are the cherry on the cake. 🙂
16 November 2017, 21:33
Bart Meeldijk
Seats are 100 times better, this way! Great job!
17 November 2017, 10:32
ice
A short proof of life. I painted the seat and added some seatbelts. The first window was glued in and some other small things were done like erasing ejection marks.
6 January 2018, 20:57
Christian Lehmann
Warum habe ich das bisher verpasst? Super Arbeit. 👍
6 January 2018, 21:30
ice
Danke! 🙂
Today the cabin was completed a little bit more. Some more intercom-cables, levers and pipes were glued in place and I start looking forward to the moment when I can close the Sea King.
Some of the gluepoints are quite small and have to hold quite some weight in place - I hope later nothing starts to move when the hull is closed.
12 January 2018, 21:42
Adam Gudynowski
I'm not a big fan of choppers but this is great 👍
13 January 2018, 20:45
Joost de Ruijter
Very nicely done... keep up the grest work.... love those helcopter builds
14 January 2018, 07:49
ice
Thank you Adam and JD for your nice comments.

I can finally say: The cabin interior is done! 🙂
21 January 2018, 12:11
Clifford Keesler
It looks awesome.
23 January 2018, 00:46
ice
Thank you Clifford!
The flu got me so I had to take a longer break. Today the fuselage was closed (using some brute force in some areas) and now I'm absolutely not looking forward to close all those little gaps. Advantage of the Airfix-Sea King: No rivets!
I think I'll try surfacer applied with a toothpick.
I also got rid of the tie-down rings on the fuselage. That was quite easy because of the soft Airfix-plastic.
26 January 2018, 22:58
Clifford Keesler
It is looking good. Yes I hate filling and sanding also, but it is a nesseary evil.
27 January 2018, 00:30
ice
I filled and sanded and filled and sanded but the results are not presentable yet.
So I went to the hobby shop and bought some Tamiya clear blue and clear green to tint the overhead windows. I used a mix of 75% blue + 25% green. I also added the overhead console and added two frames I saw at a lot of pictures.
6 February 2018, 21:19
Kees Kleijwegt
Looking great ice! Very nice and detailed build 👍
6 February 2018, 21:26
Scott Hastings
Your internal detailing is amazing...the seats, wiring, ductwork and wall insulation ALL top notch. You need to do a cut open version to be able to see all this gorgeous work! I like the clear sharpness you got with your green mixture for the canopy window. Super build indeed
7 February 2018, 00:19
ice
Some very nice gents at britmodeller gave me the hint, that the Mk.4 has some extra circuit breaker panels over the pilots and co-pilots head. Pictures are rare so I had to guess when i made some from styrene and leftover pe-parts.
11 February 2018, 20:00
Stephan Ryll
Very nice work in a small scale 👍
11 February 2018, 20:05
Spanjaard
excellent, Ice
11 February 2018, 20:10
Donald Dickson II
Just now seeing this. Awesome work!
11 February 2018, 20:36

ice, the panels looks damn cool! 👍

Amazing details.
11 February 2018, 23:41
ice
I have to thank you so much for your comments and the support. It releases that little extra-energy you need to try something new and not stay on the same level all the time.
The new thing this time was Rosie. Rosie the Riveter was totally new to me but our relationship grew strong quite fast.😎
It's a marvelous tool and it adds so much details to the model. I used the 0.4mm-Version (single and double) and you could even use it for 1/144. Sadly the rivets are so close together that it's very hard to take a good photo of them. Damn I have to get a macro-lens soon.
17 February 2018, 20:19
Spanjaard
i have the one of trumpeter... but for 1/144? i will need to look at Rosie 🙂
18 February 2018, 00:02
Ronan
Very nice work😉
18 February 2018, 07:56
Kees Kleijwegt
Great progress
18 February 2018, 09:08
Olivier
Toll ! You could become a teacher for modellers or write a book on detailing. Your explanations are well documented and clear. Thank you.
18 February 2018, 11:08
Burkhard D
Great work and a very nice narrative 🙂
18 February 2018, 15:23
Thomas Bischoff
simply amazing!
18 February 2018, 15:36
Clifford Keesler
Awesome sir.
19 February 2018, 20:06
ice
You guys are sooo great! Thank you all for the very flattering comments. 🙂
@spanjaard: Give it a try - it's a great tool!
@olly: There are soo many gifted modellers here that I can learn so much from - I'm more the student than the teacher.

Today I was curious how much of the rivets would be visible after painting. As you can see this shouldn't be much of a problem. But I'll have to redo the painting of the tail because of other reason. If you take a look at photos of the real bird you'll see that the white is bright and shiny. No preshading needed: jetphotos.com/registration/ZF115

My next steps will be:
- completing the riveting and assembling the Sea King for painting
- No primer or black basing. I'll spray XF-62 as base coat (perhaps I'll light it up a little with XF-2 because of the scale effect)
- masking the tiger-stripes
- paint XF-2 with a good coverage

All the weathering will be done with washes, oil paint and highly dilluted airbrushing.
24 February 2018, 19:38
Ronan
Great progress, Ice😉
24 February 2018, 22:43
ice
Thank you!
Riveting is done. I painted the fuselage with XF-1 to find issues but nothing world shaking apeared so I started with more pe-parts from the Eduard-set.
When you want to use this set I highly recommend to use reference pictures. Some pe parts are not useable on the HC,4.
Perhaps I can start with painting the camo scheme this week but I have a lot of appointments this week.
4 March 2018, 20:54
Spanjaard
now I got a couple of Rosie de riveter. they look fantastic. thanks Ice
5 March 2018, 16:59
Harry Eder
Very nice! 👍 I like the rivets!
5 March 2018, 17:03
Ed Froix
Supra building!: Do you have a free chair?
6 March 2018, 05:40
Bart Goesaert
Looking very good... Is there another reason then to check the surface to paint it before the application of the PE? Doesn't this have consequences for the adhesion (bit like when masking a model and the paint comes off kind of style, but with the PE)?
6 March 2018, 07:32
ice
@Harry: Dankeschön! I hope they'll be still there after paint, clear cote, washing and all the other layers of stuff to come.

@Ed Froix: Thank you and welcome!

@Bart:
I hope not. 😄
I painted it because I needed to spot areas I had to sand. this is much less complicated without the PE.

Today more PE-time. Just compare the folded part to the kit-part. BUT Eduard did something wrong. The diagonal struts of the frames should be similar on both sides: The front strut should go from left top to right bottom on both sides. Not a big deal but they made a lot of small mistakes on that set. I'll have to mount the IR-thingies to make the struts invisible. 😄
6 March 2018, 21:28
bughunter
You are the heli master of that small scale!
6 March 2018, 21:41
Bart Meeldijk
Great work! Progressing nicely! How is the camo coming? Tough job rigt? :-/
Are you masking the whole kit and spraying? Good luck!
7 March 2018, 09:08
ice
Started masking - hope this will work..
10 March 2018, 22:05
Thomas T
This in 1/72. Bist du gscheit!
10 March 2018, 22:20
Kees Kleijwegt
You're in for some serious masking mate! 🙂
10 March 2018, 22:22
Urban Gardini
Marvelous!
10 March 2018, 23:34
Donald Dickson II
And that is precisely why I will never do this scheme! Unless they come out with pre cut masks. LOL Good luck sir!
11 March 2018, 15:41
Clifford Keesler
That will be an impressive camo scheme.
12 March 2018, 01:45
ice
Thank you guys for the encouraging and the a little bit non-encouranging comments. 😄
I just wanted to give a small update. The right side is almost done and I'm getting some routine.
This is so much fun - NOT!
I think next time I'll do it the oldschool-way. I'll airbrush it white and do the green stripes with a brush. I so much hope that I don't #$%§ it up when airbrushing the white... 😳
17 March 2018, 15:38
Daniel Klink
No problem for ice ....👍
17 March 2018, 16:10
Alexander Grivonev
Awesome, great patience!
17 March 2018, 20:19

80% done! For some areas I'll nee UHU Tac but I'll wait until just before the painting before applying it.

Dear Lord!
28 April 2018, 21:09

What an amount of work! This is gonna be great (actually it is already now..)
28 April 2018, 21:35

a work of art, passion, and patience. well, the usual ice style😉
28 April 2018, 22:39
Clifford Keesler
Looking totally awesome Ice.
28 April 2018, 22:52
Cuajete
The masking art.
30 April 2018, 11:05
Bart Goesaert
the art of masking... hours and hours of cutting and applying tape etc..., 20' spraying and praying that it will turn out ok when unwrapping... but so far it looks good...
2 May 2018, 10:46
ice
Finally I ate some of Jeremy Clarksons "brave pills" and started painting. Of course the painjob needs some touch-ups but nothing horrible happened.
27 June 2018, 20:04
Martin Oostrom
She looks very nice to me. Top job 👍
27 June 2018, 20:25
Ronan
Very nice, Ice !😉
27 June 2018, 20:41

When I clicked on the pic I actually said WOW out loud. That came out great!
28 June 2018, 00:26

wow indeed!
28 June 2018, 06:39

Thank you guys! Everytime I look at the kit I'm smyling. Two big issues will slow down the next steps: Extremly good weather and some business trips. But motivation is no problem - I can't wait to continue. 🙂

Right now the build is on hold due to temperatures up to 30,5°C in my mancave.
@Bart: Of course. I hope this way perhaps a little bit of the interior could still be visible.

Update-time! Decals are done and I sealed them with gloss cote. Washing was done with Tamiya panel line accent colour. I also airbrushed the insides of the doors and different small parts. I ordered some new matt cote that should arrive this week.

Thank you guys. A pleasure to read your nice comments.
@Gareth: So "Gust Lock" is that red thingy? Is this the official term? I alway wondered what could be the name for that device.
17 September 2018, 18:48
Gareth Windsor
Yes, gust lock. The tail rotors all flap independently so the Gust Lock would pull the blades and hold them in place to stop the wind knocking them back and forth and getting damaged.
17 September 2018, 21:08
Clifford Keesler
Excellent job Ice.
19 September 2018, 15:08
ice
Thank you Gareth for the explanation. I've seen the Gust Lock many times and I knew it's purpose but I never knew the name. 🙂
And thank you Clifford for the appreciation.

Today a big step was done. I apllied the flat varnish and finally was able to peel the masks off. That's what I like best in modelling. It's a bit like Christmas.
Sadly the maskol on some windows reacted with the Future so I'll have to take care of that.

Firts testfit of the main rotor. I like the Airfix-system - nothing is glued yet. The outer rotorblades are a bit too high but that's not a big issue.

The whole time today went into the cargo hook. After some research I found a company called Drallim that seems to deliver helicopter cargo hooks to the British Forces. I tried to build the SACRU 1. It's not painted yet but that should do the job. I also still needs the cables that open the hook and the hook needs to be tied up against the bottom of the helicopter.

Thank you Clifford and Gareth. So great to know, that even Pros like my model. 🙂
A productive weekend ends:
- added many antennas (you can hardly see the wire HF antenna)
- added the "floodlights" to the sponsons. I think they are an obstacle avoidance system.
- clearcoted and washed wheels, front door, holders for the IR jammers, tailhinge, steps of the side door.
- painted the SACRU and stowed it under the helicopter. I also added the thin cable, that exits the cabin under the left side window and runs down to the hook to hold it in position
- I don't know why, but Airfix forgot the antennas on the left and right side of the cockpit that look like handles. I added tham but they are not painted yet.
- all rotorblades now have locks and are a bit "tuned". Hydraulik lines will be added later.
- Rotorblades are painted Medium Sea Grey (underside) and Dark Sea Grey (upper side)

That's it for today. 🙂

Not much but it took some time:
- painting rotorblades topside RAF Dark Sea Grey
- masking topside
- painting rotorblades underside RAF Medium Sea Grey
- masking the tips for the yellow with a template
- painting the tips Revell 15 Yellow
- masking the leading edges of the rotorblades with a template (leading edge isn't silverish up to the root of the rotorblade)
- painting the leading edges Revell 91 Iron
- painting the rotorblades with X22 for the decals

Thank you Clifford! 👍
The rotorblades are painted, washed and coated. Now I had to allign them. Airfix did a good job but the rotorblades on the sides were too high and too horizontal. I had to make two cuts to get them right. The droop was made by sticking them in hot water and bend them ove a template.

So many nice comments - guys you are the best. 👍
Work is over for this year and that means I have some time for the hobby. Yesterday and today I nearly finished the rotorhead. It still needs some touch ups with paint but the main work is done. I have to say that I really love the Sea king in all its variants but building the rotorhead is quite a challenge...

All of your comments were very nice and I'm really thankful for them but Bart made me laugh out loud. You made my day! 👍

Today again some hours went into the model but you can't see the big differeces. I completed the rotorhead and glued the front door in place.
I also completed the underside of the Sea King were some antennas and the anti-collision light were still missing. Since I lost the kit part (that wasn't looking that good at all) I made a new anti-collision light - twice! Why twice? Well the first one was declared a gift to the modelling gods when it jumped out my tweezers and wasn't seen ever again. Did you know that carpet monsters even live in laminate floors?

The to do list is getting shorter:
- new pitot tubes (you just can't use the kit parts)
- winch
- windscreen whipers
- some more lights
- antennas on the tail boom

I hope I didn't forget anything...
19 December 2018, 22:21

23 December 2018, 11:02

Thank you Marc and Spanjaard! 🙂
Spanjaard, there's still enough work left to do:

- antennas on the sides of the tailboom (both sides)
- positionslights
- holdingbar under the winch
- small antenna on the left side on the cockpit
- rearview mirrors
- antenna in the windscreen
- small handles on the doghouse
- static dischargers
- filler cap beside the backdoor
- openings for fire extinguisher on the doghouse
- pe-parts on the sandfilter

and for presentation there will be some small add-ons
- lashing of the outer rotorblades
- tarp over the sandfilter
- cover for small antenna on the left cockpitside
- cover pitot tubes
- exhaus covers
- wheelchocks

Thank you very much Ingmar Donald, Clifford and Tim. Great comments!
@Donald: Nope - I do this just for fun. But thank you, that you think my build could be worthy. 🙂

- antennas on the sides of the tailboom (both sides): CHECK!
- pe-parts on the sandfilter: CHECK
- holdingbar under the winch: Made from wire and painted but not glued to the Sea King yet.

- lashing of the outer rotorblades: Nearly done. I already made tip socks from aluminium foil and Tamiya tape but they still need some paint.
- tarp over the sandfilter: I made a cover from aluminium foil but that's not quite the look I want to achieve. other colour is needed too.
- exhaust covers: Still need paint

A very nice model, Ice . In fact i wanted to start my HC.4 when you decided to do yours, so i choose another helo😉 ( Dauphin ) , it's a very good source of inspiration for me now ... I would make the old HC.4 in Bosnia 1994 but i don't know when 😄

Thank you Cuajete and Richmond! 🙂

I call this build done! Today I added the last little missing parts like
- positionlights on the sponsons made from clear sprue
- small "PIN OUT"-sign for the tailhinge
- cover for the ice-indicator with a little RBF-tag
- wheelchocks
- new sideantenna using thicker rigging-wire
- new antenna in the center of the windscreen
- and I secured the outer rotorblades

I think I'll make a small base for the Sea King and will take better pictures for the "roll out" when the sun comes out again.
