A little bit of a late update, but I have made some progress on the MiG. Cockpit is done and intakes are assembled. Very complex intake engineering that I'm not sure I got totally right. Lol. The forward fuselage to rear join seam is going to take some work top and bottom. The cockpit assembly is kinda weird too, no tub, just a bunch of separate parts that go together as you close up the forward fuselage.

Watching this project. I see that although this is a RBT version , you still bought a conversion kit?

Thanks Melf! It's not a conversion, it is a correction to the nose. It was only $14 and came with masks so I thought I would give it a try!

Got the burner cans done. Boy are they complex! But I think the heat stressing turned out pretty good...

Looking good so far, i have almost finished mine, just some work on the canopy. I also bought the aftermarket pitot and its very finely engineered. However i had finished building the kit before i found out about the nose error. I enjoyed building this huge plane and look forward to seeing your interpretation of it. My only other outstanding issue now that i remember is i have no seatbelts for it, do you know of an aftermarket soviet seatbelt set? no point in buying the Eduard interior set just to get belts now.

Thanks Alistair, Spanjaard, and Michael!
Alistair, I am not aware of any aftermarket seat belts, but you could always try making them out of Tamiya tape. I myself have never tried that, but I have seen it done many times very convincingly. You should post up some pics of your Foxbat, I would love to see yours!

Nice work on the cans Michael. Compared with the Tamiya F-16 you last built, this one is no walk in the park. It needs some work. Keep it up!

Thanks for the links Alistair and Izek!
Thanks Jeff, progress is slow on this one due to busy work schedule and, well this kit is definitely not shake and bake like Tamiya as Maciej said. It is funny, some things fit perfectly, and others leave canyon sized gaps and steps. I am sure part of the fit problem can be attributed to myself though, but man the tight fit tolerances and complex engineering have made this one the second most difficult build for me I've encountered, the Hasegawa F-14 being the worst.

Indeed, the MiG from the ICM is far from perfect. But no one expected a masterpiece from them. Kitty Hawk is also not without flaws. Very pleased with the 31st from AMK.
Good luck in the construction.

Thanks James, Erik, and Izek!
I got the primer coat on and see a few areas that need more work, but it's progress!

Welcome Es-haq!
Thanks David and Michael! Haha, how did you know that David? Insider information... LOL
But I have refined my marble technique. The big secret? Just go like hell. Seriously, it takes me like barely an hour to do all of that, even on a huge plate like the Foxbat. I don't spend much time in each panel, just draw some squiggles, then go over random areas of each panel to give it a little extra highlight. So the trick is... do it fast!

Will try it once too. Have the Black Mr.Surfacer primer now, both in rattlecan and jar. So will try the marble technique on my next model too. Well not exactly my current build since it is a all white Skyhawk..
Nice job Michael. I assume you are making a Iraqi Foxbat?

Exhaust metalwork painting is done. Need to put a wash on it and maybe some rust staining.

Thanks Alfredo, Roland, Gareth, Jeff, G1TDK, and David!! I appreciate the comments and for checking out my WIP.
Got the main decals and some of the stencils on last night. There were only 10 Iraqi scheme decals, but well over 100 stencils. I hope to get most of the stencils on tonight, but most likely I won;t get them all done until Wednesday.

Thanks Marko, Maciej, Augie, Christian, and James!
I got some more stencils on last night (no pics), and still have half of the right side and all of the underside to do. I hope to get that all done tonight so that I can begin weathering with a wash, etc, tomorrow. There is a slim possibility I could wrap this up this weekend.

coming together well, i'll have to get my canopy finished as thats all i have remaining to do then post it. I am bad for not doing a nice build sequence as you have provided us with.

Thanks Erik, Martin, Michael, John, Alistair, Tim, Hugo, and Cristian! All of your kind words mean a lot to me!!!
Alistair, I totally understand about posting, I had to force myself to take pics as I progressed, but once I got in the habit of doing so it became an afterthought, I just did it. I am really looking forward to seeing your competed build! How was it for you? I saw some others that have built this and they didn't seem to have the issues I did, so I really think I messed something up when I put together the bulkhead and intake area.

I had a little trouble conforming the upper portion of the intake as it has a slight curve but the moulded part was straight. Just clamped it. Pity I can't embed a photo here as I have a couple on my phone. I was putting off fitting the canopy because I wanted to use milliput to.mould that quilted padding you see I'm photos of the real thing.

Thanks James, Christian, and Christian. I am aaaaaaaalmost done. Just a couple little things left to do, one of which is the inside of the canopy. Not sure how to handle the curtain and padding... I will come up with something. I don't have Miliput like Alistair is going to use, so I will have to improvise.
Also, I wanted to make this really dirty and grimy, buuuuuut I may have taken it a little too far. Oh well. LOL I hope to post final pics tonight, so you all can be the judge of that then. 🙂

you'll probably finish yours before i finish mine. I have somehow misplaced my Milliput which is the reason its been on the back burner. However i'm off on a wee North African work adventure for 4 weeks so nothing will happen till i get back anyhow. So ill be watching yours from afar. May have a desire to build more Ruskie stuff on return methinks!

I have to say these Master pitot replacements are first class, especially this one for the MiG-25. Looks like i will be heading there frequently in the future.

Thanks Augie! The pictures are actually all from before I went crazy with weathering. Eek!
Alistair, I feel ya on the Russky stuff, I am really into that right now. I love all jet aircraft, and the Tomcat is my favorite, but I do just love the bruteness and unique look of Russian Aircraft.
And yes, the Master Pitot is fantastic. It really is well worth the price and a great addition to the kit.
