Bf-109 G-10 « Weiß 43 » 5./NJG.11

I always liked the complete blue (RLM76) on the G-10. I have the Revell kit in 1/72 stashed and I would like to finish it like this.
However note how on the picture the rudder seems to be white while on the illustration it is also blue. Or perhaps the rudder is in another light color?
The photo should take preference. What do you think?

Ha. I'm too fast on the other photo the rudder is in the same color as the body. So what happened here?

Well,there is something with the rudder, you're right. I think that the pictures have been taken in a row (difficult to be sure, but the grass in the field iseems to be the same length), so it is likely that the rudder is white only on the starboard side. Why ? No idea but, it was the very end of the war. Moreover, the soldiers uniforme seem to be english no ? So the Bf-109 would be in non flying condition. Ideas and thoughts are welcome...

Mmmh the propeller is not on the same position on the different pictures... so cancel my last about the row... I have to search more about this aircraft !😉

The rudder appears to be deflected to one side, and IMHO reflects a little more light in the first photograph making it seem like a lighter colour (white?) - I think the rudder is the same colour both sides. Just an idle observation! 🙂

Aha...you have got me on that one! A tiny bit of deflection on the flap also, but it doesn't seem quite enough to produce the difference (but I really wouldn't like to say for certain). Black & white photos can be notoriously difficult to analyse (who said 'the camera never lies'?), and I wouldn't want to say if this was a light effect or a paint effect (seems to be the wrong side for a cockpit access marking or finish, or is it a replacement/repainted part?). Sorry 🙁 . Anyone else want to chip in?

If you look at the trim tab on the rudder it appears to be the same color gray, so I think it's just the sun washing out the color.

I think that the seemingly different color of the rudder and the deflected flap is just a shadow effect. The port flap is the same color as the rest of the airframe on the other photographs, so this supports that theory. Shadows on B&W photos get notoriously misinterpreted as different colors. Just my opinion... 👍

The rudder is pointing to the left which is visible in all pictures. So that could
explain the seemingly different color.
However the flap being darker because of its angle is not consistend with the small patch of the same gray on the right of the flap which has the same angle. I think that that part of the flap could be bare metal.
But since we will never know for sure, painting the whole airframe in RLM76 and the wing roots black seems perfectly appropriate. There is only so much you can learn from these photos and like Derek said: "who said 'the camera never lies'. Photos can be very misleading because they urge us to take them as the whole truth.
The plane is probably not anymore in flying condition. Note that the glass-cover on the left wing tip is missing and the round cover on the left side of the body is also gone.

RLM 76 is for such machines probably not 100% but accepted by all "experts", there were also meanders on the 76, so why not 76 pure 👍 👍 👍

Hello:
- Eduard: photoetch parts in order to detail the cockpit and some decals,
- Fujimi: few parts that I have found better (for example wings bumps, propeller spinner, joystick)

I'd like to get into my Fujimi 109's but I want to get finished some kits that have started and only require painting on wards to finish off.

The only Fujimi kit I have ever built was their 1/48 F-4E, which was my 2nd Resin cockpit as the kit cockpit was a joke.

Oh no, these Fujimi ones are newly tooled in the 90's, not their earlier ones. The new tooling is quite nice, but some say it's to much hard work because of the way the forward fuselage is designed and also you need to remove certain panel lines depending on the variant your building. Basically Fujimi tried to get to many variants out of one fuselage mold. At the end of the day you get a nicely finished result.
