Welcome Adam, this is going at a good steady pace at the moment.

And ticket supplied, didn't do much on this project yesterday, but I did manage to cut the base out of MDF sized up to fit in my cabinet. Today I'm determent to get the cockpit and pilots into the closed fuselage.

Not to worried about how rough the cockpit looks, I still need to put the pilot & WSO in later. Also the vertical tails are just sitting in place, I'll work on them tonight and have them finished in the next 48 hours along with the center line fuel tank. Plus I have to give her a primer coat because I know there's going to be some hidden surprises yet to be discovered.

You mign't be worried about it Mick but it looks like genuine wear and tear. Getting my money's worth!

Well, to be a bit heartless, maybe your photographic skills aren't quite on a par with your modelling skills. Maybe ...

A bit more paint has to go on, then a gloss coat, then comes decals.🙂

Thanks Konrad, hopefully this aircraft will be finished by the end of next week, then I'll start on the Cat.

Just another gloss coat to protect the decals for the wash/weathering process. Then replace the seats with Aerobonus ones with the pilot in them, then canopy, exhaust, blade antennas and probes, also a flat coat and the first aircraft for this project will be done. The F-14D decals turned up yesterday so I'm pretty keen to get stuck into her soon.

Konrad -
One question what kind of material you are using for this „holding pin"?

Hi Konrad, I'll be using clear plastic rod that I'll cut and shape appropriately. I have 3 lengths of 8mm x 1.2m long clear plastic rod that I bought some time ago. The 2 aircraft won't be sitting on stands like the one in the photograph it will be a completely different way at which you view the models.

Early this morning I put on another clear gloss coat, now I'll need to check to see if I have any exhaust nozzles already made, if not I'll have to cast them after my mold cures for the pilot & seat combo. Times like this I wish I had 2 pressure pots.😢

No worries Konrad, and thank you to you both. Today I cast myself some nice exhaust nozzles, now I just need to paint and install them. Also casting the cockpit tub for the F-14D, might have a late one tonight and finish the canopy, I'll see how I'm feeling and might even start the wash as well.

You certainly have a wonderful touch Michael, the highlighting of all the panel and rivet detail takes my breath away. Superb. 🙂

Thanks Kerry, to be honest I'm really struggling to stayed focused on the Super Hornet. I've got about 4 to 5 hours work to do and she'll be all done, just can't seam to cross that finish line. I really need to put the blinkers back on.🤔

We are all afflicted with that staring at the finish line but it just keeps moving away mate. LOL 🙂
I have that issue pop up every build I do. 🙁
But what you have done is nothing short of stunning.
Great to look at from my angle Michael. 🙂

Thanks mate, I'm going to get a goodnight sleep and tackle her again in the morning and hopefully by the time the sun wants to go down it will be all over red rover.😄

Album info
I was going to do these flying over a rippled piece of glass that would simulate water, but I will save that for another in flight idea I have. This will still be a in flight dio just not over water. Also today I tracked down a set of Microscale Decals for the F-14D part of this build so I won't have to be making my own decals, huge time saver.
