We had French, German and English in school when I was 12 (and Dutch of course), all obligatory. French and German for 4 years and English for 6. Even had 1 year of Latin.
We're a small country and speaking languages is quite necessary in trade.
My German and French is rusty, the Latin is gone.

I did 2 years of German in high school and can still count to 99. I am learning Thai as Mrs Hardy is very proficient at it. When I was a kid we could only do Latin, German and French. French sounded very feminine to our young ears so the boys learned that your father was a farter, while the girls learned the language of romance. My late wife was of Dutch heritage so I do have a very small Dutch vocabulary, mostly food and swear words!

Cheers, Kez. Seems like I haven't progressed at all for weeks. Done a lot but unhappy with most of it and gone back to do it again and again. eg; the battery I have painted four times. Not bad now, just have to do some blending on it, just have to figure out how to do it first. Thanks for the encouragement, you will never know how much it means coming from you.
I have a new starter here who is very interested in modelling. I have shown him your display case as example of what can be achieved with time and accumulation of skills. I have a couple of cheap and early Tamiya tanks in my office which he has had a good look over. Got his eye on an old Aeromax Ford prime mover and I have offered some stuff to get him started. Might have a new Scalemate! Gotta LOVE the hobby!!

The thing I like about your models Peter is that your not in competition with any one other than your self. And there is no harder judge than that.👍
I am so hard on my self and it means that each kit that makes it to my display case, (And there are many that didn't), they have PASSED THE MOST CRITICAL OF ALL STAGES. Me. AND MY PEDANTIC NEED TO BE PERFECT, OR AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE. 🙂

Listen to Kerry, Peter.
You are your own worst enemy when beholding your builds. Perhaps a bit too crititcal for your skill level? Just a year ago I got really annoyed when looking at Kerry's work (or Bernard Schrock, Bughunter, Spanjaard, etc.etc) because my work wasn't up to their standard. One day I realized it probably never will, but hey, I'm having fun. And now people are starting to ask me for advice..... Not because I'm a great builder (Ithink) but because I just know some stuff, or have read/seen something somewhere.
Moral of the story; just keep grinding, FINISH a model and the next one will be easier and better. #YouCanDoIt
And this one is shaping up really nice.

We have British humour here too Lode. We laugh at the British on a daily basis. I am just about to turn the TV on and watch last night's P1 practice session for the US GP at Austin Texas USA. The commentator will be English, speak in a weird accent that only people who live within 100 metres of his house can understand, talk as if the only audience is British, and tell us all how incredibly hot it is. Last week the Superbike races were in Spain and the temperature was 18C. We were told how it was a beautiful day and everybody should be wearing shorts. The crowd were mostly wearing long sleeves and jeans. At 18 degrees C Kerry and I would be wearing a t shirt under a heavy shirt and be wearing a light jacket at the very least. In Thailand three weeks ago we were told how incredibly hot it was. 32C! A very cool summer day or a warm winter's afternoon! Wet myself laughing! Hate to see the poor sod in summer! So, yep, British humour keeps us entertained too.

It's the same all over the world.
Us men have all the stuff and all the toys, but the women rule, like we're just boys!
Which is true I guess. Deep down I'm quite certain I'm only three years old. "Go away, I wanna play!"

I would if I understood a word you're saying. I know English and Yanks fairly well, but Aussienglish?
Not much Aussie shows on tv here either. My mother used to watch Sons and Daughters back in the 80's and my kids watch H2O. That's it, not much humour in there.

We mostly just laugh at the Poms, they're an easy mark. Fair though, they do their best to take the piss out of us too.
We certainly hold on to our identity Marty. I had a bloke in a shopping centre in Bangkok ask me if I was American. I just explained that I was Jinjo, Thai for kangaroo. He apologised for thinking I was American. We had a bit of a laugh and I asked him why he thought I was American and he said he'd never seen a man as big as me before and he'd heard that Americans are big. Fair enough. I asked if he spoke much English and admitted I didn't speak much either. Nice bloke. I say gidday everytime I go to Future Park Shopping Centre in Bangkok.

Thanks Kezza! Making some progress is wonderful medicine. Thanks for the assistance you have given me with this one. Bit of finesse required after years of slapping tanks together!!
Thanks Lode! Tried to be a bit subtle with the effect. New to heat signatures so it was a test and test again scenario before I dared try on the bike.
Marty, been doing some thinking about the suggested duo build and have decided not to go through with it. Given your build rate you'd be finished, published and drinking beer while I was still trying to open the box.

Now if someone was trying to bait Kerry on the other hand, I'd say "look, if the guy wants to take pictures of real cars and pretend he built a bunch of 'scale models', just let him enjoy thinking he's put on over on us..."

True enough. My electric ladybug project is on hold just for a bit while I sort out the Tintin rocket launch pad that I'm also building - Destination Moon (XFLR-6 Test Rocket) | Album by strobez (1:72). It seemed so simple, but different roadblocks keep popping up and I have to make "just one more trip"to the store to get a piece. So in the meantime, I'm just enjoying watching this build come together instead.

My good friend Peter has the heart of a saint, believe me.
Our friendship happened through Scale Mates, realising that we were Aussies and became a lot closer as we realised that we lived in the same place in Australia, being the same state of Queensland, and the chatting on Skype helped it get a little more 'personal'. We have a lot in common and speak the same 'lingo' and that is a big bonus when it comes to getting the message across. 👍
Peter runs a most successful 'small business', teaching people how to drive the big rig trucks that transports much of our mining, farming and general supplies on the roads right throughout this great land.
Modelling is our shared interest and passion, and we bounce a lot of ideas off each other and share what we know and fail at. 👍
He is like the brother I never had and a good friend to boot. 🙂
He was showing me some tanks he was missing on Skype, of some drive wheels for a Sherman he has, and as I had some spare from a build I did, I sent them to him so he could complete / repair what he had, and THEN, blow me down, a big box is on my doorstep with two Kawasaki Z-1's in it. !
Now you all know why there has been this keen interest in the builds of both our bikes we have shared, being the 'Duke ' and the 'Quacker's' he sent me. (The Challenge".
And as time has gone on, you have all shared in that conversation at differing times and levels.👍
Peter is quick to learn and embrace change. I have the greates admiration for his abilities and acomplishments.
A true gentleman indeed. 🙂 👍

As for the 'family' name I would lean towards Taylor. They were a little more dysfunctional and had a Tim as the lead idiot!

Got her too, mate and just ordered new decals! They are a little bit too old to manage them correctly!

Great balls of fire. ! How about you Mr Hardy. 👍
One of the better builds to grace the pages of Scale Mates for sure. 🙂

Thanks Maurizzio. First time I have done a heat signature but wanted it subtle.
