Now that the cockpit is basically done, I can now glue the top fuselage to the bottom fuselage.

I'm definitely interested in this one! I have the same kit with the massive Flightpath etch set, plus some resin. Looking good so far 🙂

Thanks Fellas, the fit of the fuselage is horrendous, the lower fuselage isn't as wide as the top fuselage. On my next 3 builds what I will do is where the forward wheel well sits inside the lower fuselage I will glue wedges. To push out the lower fuselage to line up with the top fuselage and I believe this will solve the problem. I'll include a photo of what I mean soon.

As for the air intakes and the horror stories I've heard about, I glued those first to the bottom fuselage making sure I had a nice clean fit. Come time to glue the top fuselage on I glued the wing section first, and everything else just fell into place. I'll clean her up today, and I'll see what she looks like.

Just looked at my other 3 fuselages, and none of them are warped or deformed around the forward section of the air intakes. At the air intakes though the lower fuselage does creep inside the top fuselage but that will be easily fixed by gluing to the bottom first, letting it dry for a while then gluing the top. Hope all this info is helpful to those who have the kit and don't want to deal with the nightmares. I believe now that I have top and bottom fuselage glued together it will be an easy build.

The only other part of the build that has me concerned is the undercarriage, they say to just glue it into the wheel well with no real support. For a big beast like this one is I don't think they'll hold, so I will make a hole in the center of the top undercarriage leg and a corresponding hole in the wheel well and get a piece of wire to put in the holes to strengthen the join.

Now the halves are married all I need to do is remove a bit of putty add the wings, and walla, off to the paint shop to get painted in AK's British Desert Pink.

Album info

"Hello Sailor" was one of 14 Buccaneers to be prepared for "Operation Granby" of which 12 were deployed to Bahrain in 1991. All received ARTF paint over their standard camouflage. The only National Insignias applied were the to the wings in lo-viz.
