I dunno how I started this one... Just hanging around waiting for other stuff to dry and I got my hands on this little bag of resin tank parts. I have to say though, I'm quite disappointed with the quality - it's much much lower than I expected (I don't know what). The resin has lots of bubbles... and the fit of the parts is... aspirational at best.

I'm in the same league with my tunguska, hope you didn't pay 66€ in total... but, when complete it is a model with a story...

Greg, I did not think that you would give up that easily😉. And there is a level of satisfaction when one tangles with a crappy kit and wins, as Bart pointed out. So, I withdraw my dumb suggestion, sit down, and just watch 👍

I never give up! I'm not sure I'll win, but I'll go down swinging! First attack, a new gun barrel out of wire and plastic tubing! Did I really pay ¥2000 for this? Sigh...

You paid a lot less then I did, costs as much as a regular kit in 72nd scale..

Next up in the category of "I paid more than I probably should have" is the 1/144 resin Jeep that's the second part of this little project. At least the resin cast Jeep from Bregun looks sharp. Some small modifications will be required though.

Looks like snow right now. LOL Pretty sure it will look like sand once it is sand colored.😉

Painting cotton is harder than it looks... the paint either clumps it up, or blows it away, or both. I'm not sure if that was quite the look I was going for... it might need some touch up.

Well it doesn't look like snow anymore.???? Seriously though I think maybe the cloud behind the tank needs to be wider. Because when you cause a dust cloud it ends up expanding the further away from the vehicle it gets. Maybe that would help to make it look more like what you want?

I do have quite limited space to work with, but I'll try and puff it up a bit more. Every diorama I've seen online that has blowing sand has more or less been done the same way, to (my eyes at least) more or less the same effect. Oh well... there are SOME limitations to my imagination I guess.😉

LOL My friend, your imagination is far greater than mine. I could well be barking up the wrong tree.

Heh... I just took a shower and now I've got an idea for a completely new project... part kitbash, part scratchbuild... and mostly 'cause I'm too cheap to shell out $50 for a resin kit of questionable quality.
I do all my best thinking in there... must be the suds.😉

That looks really cool, think the jeep is about to turn into a speed hump.😢

A bit more paint... a bit of madness with a 1/144 scale PE steering wheel... and we're done! And yes, that black dot is indeed a 1/144 scale scratchbuilt camera...😉

A little follow up to this project - I posted it up on my blog strobez.ca/wp/index...-of-chicken-area-88/ - so feel free to check it out. You can skip my personal musings and just read the few pages of the manga that explains the scene I'm trying to depict.
