Good haul!! Some great kits you have. Here in the UK the model shows I have attended are predominantly Aircraft, Military and Sci-fi which is fine but not really my thing. It is difficult to buy aftermarket car parts as well without buying from the US.

Prices are on the up as well so even e-bay is not cheap as it used to be. Postage from the US has gone up as well making a £20 ($25) kit double in price.

Nigel I hit ebay hot and heavy around 2004 and 05. Shipping was cheap then. I got about 80% of my stash in that time period.

Nice score! I've just finished the truck, and I've done the GTO as well.

I knew I saw that truck box art somewhere recently, congrats on the truck again. 😛

I am not in love with the Ford cab but the lift gate on the back is cool. I have so many semis I am itching to build that it may be awhile before the Coke truck gets built. (Besides, I am an RC Cola guy) It would move up in the que if had RC Cola decals.

Bill, for the lift door I superglued a couple of strips of cotton twill tape on the inside. If you thin down the ends of the door sections, it will move fine. The lift deck actually does have a full range of motion, but there's nothing to hold it in any position.

Cliff, Thanks. I remember back in my teens that I separated the door sections and used (probably) masking tape to make the door flexible. It lasted as long as I was in possession of the model.

Nice job, I get a lot of my kits from a local flea market, there is a seller there who sells brand new kits still shrink wrapped for $5 to $10 each.. lots of older kits not available anymore, usually get a few each Sunday but came home one weekend with like 14 of them...lucky for me but wife was not very happy.

Mike, I make 80% of our income. But I have agreed to a small allowance. I get what I want without any drama. Fortunately I have about 98% of the kits I want. Since I started building again its the paint and supplies that give me sticker shock.

It's great when you only have one hobby, but throw in multiple ones ! That's when it gets real painful. Along with Models cars, I have hundreds of thousands of Baseball cards, few hundred guns, ammo for them, My Shelby, Ranger, Explorer and the wife's car and a dog and 3 cats ! Ugh !

Are you retired or still working for a living?

Bob Hall
Retired from the Army, now a Trooper.

Bill Newcomer
As in fully employed Trooper? (explains the guns)

Bob Hall
Yes, But I'm From Texas ! That explains the guns ! LOL !

Damn... I'ma need to see some permits there 😛 That's cool though... and I wish we had a flea market in our area that's be cool if someone was selling cheap plastic... and Bill Oh my god, I know what you mean by sticker shock.... I started the hobby using a new Credit Card set for just this hobby in March of last year, since then it's been about $3700 ($1150 on 56 kits)...

I'm with Robert on the multiple hobbies. When I was younger I was collecting Matchbox diecasts, 1 87 scale model trucks and kits from Europe and 1 25 kits besides music cd's and books!!
Then there was the small fortune I spent buying film and developing pictures (who remembers doing that?).
Two boys and one divorce later I now have some money to spend but only on the 1 25 kits.
Searching for kits is part of the fun so I'm always on the look out at car, semi-truck and vintage vehicle shows, car boot sales, jumble sales even model railway shows.

For me it has been LHS, ebay and the occasional model show (best variety and bargains) Walmart was good when they used to sell them. Never had the free time for flea markets. 50-60 hour weeks during the summer and car shows.

Album info

Went to the SABA model show in Portland, OR today. I didn't win any awards which is OK. However, I bought $40 of raffle tickets and came home with ELEVEN kits! At the end I gave my remaining tickets to a kid and he won at least 3 more. 🙂 The photos show my winnings.
