All of the finning is assembled one piece at a time. The top sprue has the cylinder head fins.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/4/6/0/671460-30596-34-720.jpg)
The soft vinyl sprue and some body parts in black plastic.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/6/1/671461-30596-71-720.jpg)
Two of the chrome plated sprues.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/6/4/671464-30596-96-720.jpg)
Steve had begun working on the kit back in the 70's but gave up on it.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/4/6/3/671463-30596-66-720.jpg)
The clear sprue, decals and some silver soft wire.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/7/0/671470-30596-55-720.jpg)
Black sprues.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/7/1/671471-30596-67-720.jpg)
Lots of parts in this kit, 316 in all.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/6/7/671467-30596-54-720.jpg)
Wheels in progress.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/6/8/671468-30596-70-720.jpg)
Steve had assembled most of the frame also.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/6/6/671466-30596-91-720.jpg)
Starting to fill some seams and painted the engine cases.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/6/0/6/671606-30596-68-pristine.jpg)
The disc brake had some nasty ejector pin marks.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/6/0/7/671607-30596-82-720.jpg)
I punced out some .005" thick filler pieces and glued them in.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/6/0/8/671608-30596-81-720.jpg)
Then sand the disc, add a little Alclad II Stainless Steel paint.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/0/9/671609-30596-19-720.jpg)
Air brush a wee bit of darker shade.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/1/0/671610-30596-39-720.jpg)
Dress it up a bit with semigloss black for the carrier.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/1/2/671612-30596-28-pristine.jpg)
The kit supplied exhaust baffles lack detail.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/6/1/5/671615-30596-89-720.jpg)
Drill a .024" hole through.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/1/3/671613-30596-20-pristine.jpg)
The real baffles have a steel pin to grab with pliers, so insert some .024" plastic rod.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/6/1/4/671614-30596-90-720.jpg)
A bit of matte dark gray paint.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/1/1/671611-30596-66-pristine.jpg)
Looks much more like the actual piece.

Those exhausts look pretty good, is the plating as nice as it looks in the pics? Will you have to strip it for the forks etc?

The plating is not the best, in some cases I might have to try some Alclad Chrome over gloss black. For the forks, I will have to repaint with a more realistic shade. Oddly enough, the kit fork tubes are black plastic, not plated. The lower fork legs will need to be done like polished aluminum.

Album info
Using the Heller kit to replicate a production racer ridden by my close friend Steve Bond. For it's time it was a very detailed and fairly accurate offering.
