I like how the model itself dominates the view height wise and volume wise, because of the smallish water surface. I've been wanting to try this myself, nice to know this looks very nice. Presumably the height of the base is of importance in how all of this looks, for example, the side of the base is obviously smaller than the side of the ship proportion wise, which I think also enhances the notion of this ship moving.

Thank you for your nice comments. I tried to ensure that the base didn't dominates the model. I'm not a fan of thick bases for models in this scale.

This looks very nice, Dave, some extra pictures would be worthwile, the planes for example. One detail came to my eye, because I have just finished its sister kit Yorktown, I know that Tamiya botched the DP gun platforms in these kits. I had to change the angular shape meant for Enterprise to a rounded one (see pic). Now I see in the Enterprise kit it's the other way around, the rounded shapes should be angular, like in my first pictute.

Hi Steven. Although it took a long time to finish, this was a reasonably straightforward build. There were a lot of things I could have changed but ultimately it was an exercise to try out Lifecolor paints.I see from your photos the DP guns are getting some much needed etches!
I'll try and post some more photos.
Cheers

That's White Ensign, it's great stuff to upgrade a model. I also checked out Lifecolor paints, I was pleased with them but only on a good primer.
