Parts ready to be primed
Waiting for primer
Using the kit's guide pin in the engine block results in significant misalignment visible at the transmission end.
Pin removed then a bit of filing and sanding and that seam disappears.
Other side looks good too.
Tamiya XF-16 on the transmission and 5:1 Testor's 1110 gloss Blue:Flat White hopefully gets me close to pontiac blue.
Of course the engine parts didn't look this clean even when they were in the factory...
Of course the engine parts didn't look this clean even when they were in the factory...
All assembled and then 'distressed' with some rust, black and aluminum paints.
Oil wash and then a satin coat to seal it in.
Underbody
Thought it would be 'fun' to add some wire details
This should be enough to give it a bit of interest. 'Silver' are lead wire (0.015 and 0.025") while the gloss-black is painted 20 gauge copper beading wire.
Radiator and battery. Realized that i'll have to move the battery to the other side to match the real car I'm modeling... that or ask the owner of the 'bird to swap his battery over...
A few crazy seam lines to sand.
Thats quite the gap...
Odd edges are all smoothed over.
Anchored now to the inside of the fender.
I'm starting to believe that MPC stands for Modelling-Putty Challenge
Some filing and starting to get closer.
Driver's side will need some work too.
Left rear quarter panel.
Right rear quarter panel.
Seeing this profile makes me think i should be listening to some hair metal while i work.
Ready to get the front wheel flares on.
Headlights in place
Taillights in place
Starting to look complete
Interior. Couldn't resist drilling out the holes on the steering wheel spokes.
Engine bay. Notice the large gap in front of the radiator.
Filled now with a strip of 0.020" styrene then added a couple 0.010" styrene braces to match the factory car
The kit CB antenna seems pretty chunky. Guitar string to the rescue.
Glued onto a portion of the original kit antenna's base and it looks much better.
