Have the body nearly prepped for paint. Kept having to fix self inflicted boo-boos when scribing door panels. The kit headlight rings are definitely going to require some rework.

Robbed the 428 Cobra Jet engine out of this one to go into the 1968 Shelby GT-500. Found (2) partial Boss 429 engines in my parts box. Will combine them as one to go into the 69.

Chassis and interior primed and painted. Body in primer. Hood has yet to be modified for (2) 4BBLs.

Painted the body with Duplicolor rattle can. Actually worked better than the airbrushing I did today.

Two weeks of curing the paint looks really good. Need to build the engine and do some test fitting to determine precisely where to cut the hole in the hood.

It has been a month since I got any bench time. Yesterday I sorted all the pieces for 4 Mustangs that were batch painted the same color. They are all now in their respective boxes. I also sorted out the pieces of all the engines playing Musical Chairs. Today, I actually got to hand paint quite a number of pieces. Soon I will get to assemble stuff for all of them.

Bob sent me the proper Boss 429 hood scoop and rear window slats for this build. The scoop just got glued and clamped. The louvers needed some fine trimming to fit in the window frame but they are now perfect. THANKS BOB!!!!!

Making very slow progress. Body is ready to clear coat. Engine has ignition wires. Still need to paint the hood which is the biggest hang up right now.

Thanks to Bob's contributions, I now have the rear window louvers, the strut tower braces and the Boss hood painted.

Broke my build slump by tinkering on this one today. Detailed the hood, fabricated a flywheel cover for the Boss 429 and test fitted the engine and oil pan in the chassis. I also detailed the exhaust tips.

Made a little progress this weekend. Awhile back I applied some BOSS 429 decals from a 70 BOSS kit. Well they "silvered" and looked like crap. So I cribbed the best file I could fine and printed some new ones. While I was at it, I made some long past due license plates for some old completed builds. Anyway I was just about to apply the new BOSS decals when I suddenly remembered I printed them on white decal paper. DOH! So I printed off another batch on clear paper. Now I have to wait for the humidity to go down to paint them. Meanwhile, the body has been BMFd and detailed and the engine is ready to install. I even found some teeny tiny decals in my stash for the valve covers.

No pics but I have made some progress. The windows, rear louvers and interior are installed in the body. I also got the head lights and grille in as well.

Machined aluminum hoops for custom backspaced Magnum 500 wheels. Assembled vanity plate with home made BOSS 429 decal and photoetched license plate frame. Working on assembling photoetched air cleaner.

Well it is finally done. Overall it turned out pretty well. My skillset is improving by mostly being patient. It was nice to see a vision come into reality.

Bob, interesting read. Though it did seem like the writer was winging it.

Album info

There are no kits of a 1969 Boss 429. I decided to kitbash my own. Thank you Bob Hall for some of the key items to make this happen.
The rims are my first foray into making custom aluminum hoops for my wheels. Comments are welcome.
