Forgot to post it here, but I guess it's better late than never.
For some reason I forgot that white spirit is pretty mean with this kind of plastic and I messed up the canopy glass A LOT, but tried a friend's advice to use toothpaste to smooth it (it was just a guess for him too). And it worked out pretty well in the end, 80-90% as good as new.
I used 1000 grit sandpaper before polishing.
