Ha! 😄 I recently saved a bunch of Maldivian Twin Otter photos from the net (Maldivian Air Taxi & Trans Maldivian Airways) - just because it's one of these things that make us dream... and now I see this project! Will follow for sure...

Yes, those pictures were from our honeymoon in September 2008. We flew in MAQ. I didn't have the heart to tell my wife (not a lover of flying) that the aircraft were probably older than we were….

I know its dumb, but whenever I see a twin engine seaplane, it reminds me of the old American 1970s tv show, "Fantasy Island". There is something very nostalgic about seaplane travel, especially with the PanAm Clippers from the 1930s.

Following. Looking forward to bulding and flying one of these. Currently struggling to finish the Barra one, you can have a look what to expect from that kit 🙂

Following!
What is the story behind the full box? Your old unfinished kits? You really have quite some gems there! 👍

Beautiful version you are going for.
In case you care: floats are not correct. Aftermarket props are highly recommended.

Ok, better take a good look at the floats then. Are they seriously wrong?

I have no idea! 🙂
I can only repeat what a friend of mine, who has an idea, told me. I quote: the DHC-6 were delivered with Ido-floats. Those are the ones in the kit. Later new floats (Wipline 1300) were installed. When my friend visited in 2013 Maldevian Air Taxi and Maldevian Airways had fused to Trans Maldevian Airways and all machines had received the new floats already.
Unfortunately no one offers the Wipline 1300-floats. A printable file is in the making.
As I am not able to attach a pic to my comment to show you the difference between the floats, just write me a p.m. and I send it to you. My friend offered to provide detail pics if wanted.
However you decide - have fun building.

In case you want to build the machine as in your photo, the decals of the ancient Modelcraft kit 72008 are right for you. Unfortunately you appear to be living in Great Britain which means that you are severed from the rest of the continent by water and recent political events. But rescue is near. We will attend the modelling show in Telford this year and can bring the decals over as my friend has three sheets of them and can spare one. Alternatively we can post them when entering your secluded island. Just post me your address.

Luckily I have the decals already. Someone managed to source them for me. So, if I am modelling the aircraft we flew on in 2008, would the floats in the kit be correct?

I don't really know.
This is a nice page that points out the differences between the various versions:
twinotterworldnews.com/dhc-6-in-detail
There is a chapter about the floats too. So you can compare them with your pictures.
Cheers Michael
