That HB kit looks really good 👍 Even though the left side smoke is way better than the other - different technique?
PS. That grass is a cool stand too 👍

Grate painting 👍. The HB Mustang is fun to make, easy to asemble and quite detailed at the same time.

Thanks Lukasz and Marcin. @Lukasz not sure what I did differently may just have been the weight of weathering powder one side to the other and I forgot to go back 😄 the mat is just a random order from Amazon amazon.co.uk/gp/prod..00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I agree with @Marcin the HB kits are entry level stuff but sometimes it's nice not to have to worry about fuselage seam lines. If I was doing it agin I'd probably try the Arma Hobby kit that every one is using currently. I'll go back to the HB though for an idea I have for a couple of F84G Thunderjet.

I've tried both approaches, I think a black base followed by white squiggles, then a thin camouflage built up on layers probably best. I still end up pin washing and then fading or changing the colours around fabric ailerons (as I assume they'd fade/weather at a different rate?). I think we find our signature routines and what works for our styles. Great results on both!

Using this to practice air brushing techniques really. Black-basing the Spit, and Pre-shading the Mustang.
See what I prefer. Hints and tips welcome.
