Top Gun F-14
Cockpit painting
first repaneled panels. I started by the wings as they seems to be easier to work with... In this case the plastic is too soft and repanelling was a bit difficult but I can deal with it
First assembly
The canopy that came with the kit originally was damaged so i order one to Revell and also a decal sheet of the new kit that is the same kit that I'm using but injected in grey
Testing the pilots.... I made a Basic silicone mould of the pilots that used to came with Monogram kits. then I pour some resin on them so I could have my own pilots.
I chopped the head of one of them to change the position and added the head of another one
I also made the oxygen tube with some copper wires
First painting stages of Mav and Goose
Finally painted and in their places in the cockpit
All the painting on the helmets are made by brush, no decals or masks
note the size
More repaneling... In this case i have used as template the Galaxy models tape... very useful!
With a good Blueprint is easier!
General view
Testing the pitot tube
Some of the tools used for repaneling
I also made the mirrors with some plasticard
They have been cut with my Portrait 3 plotter
Some tubes on the cockpit added
The seam on the canopy was awful so some tamiya white putty was used
Also the windscreen need adjustments, so I need to sand the plastic of the fuse where it joins with the windscreen
More putty
General view with the Resin nozzles
I have designed some Drop Tanks, as the model didn't came with those
Latelly I would print them!
The result! panel lines and rivets came with the printing. If some one need a set please contact me!
Pylons where printed too
Ready for the DANGER ZONE!
Primered in X-18 ready for marbling
The repaneled panel lines seems decent to me
plenty of panels have to be made in the nose
Masking Walkways
Walkways made with anti slip Paste from ammo texturized with a foam sponge then painted
Painted all the metallic parts and the rubber wing fairings boots
mask for the markings
also for the numbers
I rather to paint this kind of details
all painted
start decalling
decalling finish! must say that the Revell decals are really good
formation lights painted
more formation lights
the nozzles needs a bit of oil paints to look reallistic
almost ready for mat varnish
formation lights paited
almost ready, only oleos left
Mav and Goose can see the sky again
Starting with the oleos
Underside finished weathering
glove vanes with dirt almost ready
Maverick and Goose almost ready to take off

I've build this kit years ago (one of my first kits for years). It is now a toy plane for my son😅.
So your work on this one is really impressive in my opinion.
Anyhow I like those black bunny's and I will try another one in the future. 😬

Excellent work! A guide for my build. I am lucky that a fellow modeller gave me a set of Hasegawa fuel tanks. Though, unliky your 3D printed, they will need some putty.

I see, someone else who likes to re-model poorly detailed Revell kits 😉
Great result with the rework and the fuel tanks look perfect too! 👍 As does the pre-shading.
Looking forward to the next stages.

Thanks Mate!!! Is always a pleasure to find people who likes the same tortures as you hahaha. I'm happy with the result! Now I want to paint all the metallic parts and nozzles

Im super happy to hear that all of you likes my work with this model, I must admit that in some moments it vas close to glide into the trash but it always returned to my work table. Now is time to keep working in the final touches
