B-17G HKM 1/48 Finished
Final shot comparing my B-17G to original one.
Some work on interior parts.
Finished pilot’s station.
Paintjob on bombs.
Wooden floors done, was pretty simple - base coat of light wood color and then some experimenting with rust oil color. Seems enough for me, as most of it will be hidden inside.
Radio operator’s room.
Walls of bombardier / navigator room
Plane’s interior
Turrets completed.
When not in the work duty during christmas holidays, starting hard work on enhancing OOB engines with Eduards PE.
Out of box undercariage legs, and Eduard’s Resin wheels painted and covered with semi gloss clear. Will set in place when the plane’s completed to achieve correct position of weighted side of tire.
Photoetched parts from “undercariage and exterior” Eduard set applied.
It didn’t took long to first major build error come out 🙁 . I painted ball turret in olive drab, later I figured out it should be grey becouse its on underside of the plane. Luckily i was able to apply dilluted masking sol on windows, Tommorow I’ try to repair it.
Ball turret paintjob repaired.
Olivedrab-ing started.
Look at this beautiful riveting by HK Models
Last stage of build, getting everything together.
Realizing again that B-17 in 1/48 scale is really a Big Boy!
Well, “amateur photoshooting” pictures ahead.
Position of cab door on underside was corrected after advise by Reddit modelmakers users.
Little bonus - idea how to display such a big model. After it’s photoshooting, The B-17 is hanging from the ceiling ”sitting” on the wall in my technical room above boiler. ;D

Beautiful internal details. It is a shame that all that hard work will be closed up.

Thank you for support, I've just uploaded remaining photos. Model was finished in January 2023, few weeks later I've become a father so new priorities came to my life. Now, more than year ago I'm partialy coming back to model making and realized that I didn't finished this project gallery. Thank you once again.
