Thank you Robert and Gorby! I could have opened the cannon hatches too and sagged the lannding gear but the model was already assembled when I found this photo.

Album info

This is an old Dragon tool kit from 1990 of Heinkel He-162 in 1/72 scale. It has some fit issues and many inaccuracies so it was a perfect candidate for an "abandoned" scene. He-162 M20 W.Nr 220003 was photographed in semi-derlict state shortly after the end of WW2 at Munich-Riem. It was probably one of 10 machines flown out of Vienna to Lechfileld to avoid capture by Soviets in early April 1945.

I did some scratch building in the engine, removed the nose wheel, remade engine cowling framing, removed canopy and added just the front frame, added Mike Grant instrument decals in the cockpit, new resin seat, pitot tube, custom W.Nr and M20 from Microscale decals. Not a perfect model, but good enough for a display case and to say I did again something different.

Model 2 for 2023.
