1/48 Hasegawa KI 61

Album image #1
Box art. That is the first thing I look for when someone posts pics. Which kit is it? A picture is worth a thousand words.

I heavily relied on the white primer coat to get tonal variations. I was going to do one more light coat, but decided to leave it up to post shading to blend it in a bit more.

Top coat, same technique - relying on the primer coat for variations. And keeping each coat well thinned.

My motto: if it doesn't get paint, it must get masked!

Album image #5
No decals used. Shaping up nice. Now I have to decide whether or not to do a camo pattern.

Album image #6
My 'good' dslr camera tends to make things look more yellow.

No such thing as too much overspray protection! You do the tail marking with a cutter?

No, all markings were done with a Montex mask set.

Beautiful rendition of the Tony fighter plane, I really love the final satin look. Great job!

Album info

I started this while waiting for the clear coat to dry on my KI-43 II. Built up quite fast. There are a few areas to watch out for, most notably the shallow panel lines on the top of the fuselage.
