USS New York
First attempt with cotton water effects - many thanks to all the YouTube tutorials!
One day I’ll get around to adding personnel to that RHIB ?
Really liked how the clear plastic worked with the Cobra canopies
Still haven’t figured out the best way to do active rotors
Finally added some personnel to this dio
The RHIB definitely needed a few figs - had a ghost ship feel otherwise 😉
OK, now this one is fully "done" 🙂

Thanks for the nice comment Bjorn!
If you're asking about the water color, I usually start with Vallejo USN glossy sea blue and mix in various dark greens as needed for the ocean to be represented - I usually do Atlantic waters a bit more green. I unfortunately didn't note the actual mix, and I like having slightly different shades when I do each layer, so just keep adjusting until you're happy with it. The last couple layers are usually in clear gloss medium with some green and blue (and sometimes gray) ink/wash added.
Hope that helps!

Hi all, thanks for all the likes - this was one of my favorite builds and an early reintroduction (third one 🙂) back into the hobby.
@ Bruce, thanks so much for the kind comment!
@ Bjorn, I used Vallejo model air colors - Light Gull Gray 71.121 for the hull, and Medium Gunship Gray 71.097 for the decks - not sure they're completely correct, but I'm happy with the results 🙂

Thanks Jennifer! After watching so many YouTube videos on the subject, I ended up picking and choosing different bits of techniques to make my own style 😀
Thanks all for the likes! Looking through the album, I need to get around to populating this dio and taking some pics with a cleaner background 😉

Album info
1:700 Hobbyboss model with some detailing sets. Since this model didn’t have a waterline option, had to create a seascape out of styrofoam to embed the hull.
