The kit cockpit is pretty much bare. Added some scratch-built detail based on the resin from the Octopus kit.
Using the cockpit floor and aft bulkhead from an old Italeri Mk.9 kit in the parts box. I glued the fuselage together, before adding the instrument panel and bulkhead from underneath.
Had to trim the bulkhead a bit to get it to fit, but overall happy with the way the fuselage went together.
A bit of trimming was required on the wing-root to get the fuselage/wing to fit. Going to need a bit of filler to smooth things out.
The horizontal stabilizers had small locating tabs, but it ended up pretty much just a butt-joint.

The kit includes metal cannon barrels. I didn't want to deal with the hassle to mount those, so I used some Airfix ones I had in the spare parts stash. Same with the gear legs, so using the plastic gear legs from the Octopus kit. The kit-Included resin wheels are 4-Spoke, but all the pictures I looked at online and in books showed the Seafire IIIC using a 5-Spoke wheels. Got a True Details set out of the stash and painted those up ready to install. Painted the exhaust stubs and the main landing gear. Used a AMMO by MiG wash to try to bring out some of the details. Propellor Spinner went together well.
Tracing the camouflage paint markings.

Super interesting! (I miss this..)
Why are you assembling this exotic kit and not the Octopus?
Oh sorry, you are building both the kits! Super!

The air intake and oil cooler were molded solid. Using a small drill and #11 x-acto blade, opened up the oil cooler inlet and outlet, and the air intake.
Started the paint. Using Humbrol 90 for the lower surfaces.

Gloss-Coat on and started decalling… and already screwed up a couple of the decals. Don't have any in the stash that would work. Found a kit decal sheet on eBay, and ended up paying more for it than I spent on the kit in the first place.
While I am waiting for those to come in the mail, started doing the panel-lines on the lower surface. Using an AMMO by MIG wash.

Don't worry Gordon, I'm usually also spend more on decals than on kits 🙂
