Fiat G 55
1 Squadriglia, II Gruppo Caccia, April-May 1944.

This was a Revell boxing of an older Frog model or perhaps a Supermodel version. Still the fit overall was great and it was fun painting the tri-color camo. My model was a given to me by a club member and the canopy was replaced with an older Frog peice which did not quite fit right but I made it work. Aircraft was painted with Aeromaster and Testors paints. In early 1944, a number of II Grupo Caccia aircraft tested some experimental camouflage schemes. Some aircraft of 1 Squadriglia were painted in a splinter pattern reminiscent of that of earlier Fiat CR.32s and Breda Ba.65s. It was applied over the original factory Verde Oliva Scuro 2 finish.
