31st Army Tank Brigade, Royal Tank Corps WWII.

Formed in January 1941, 31st Army Tank Brigade trained as an infantry tank brigade. In 1942, the brigade joined the 53rd Welsh Infantry Division in an experimental Tank/Infantry formation and was renamed the 31st Tank Brigade. By September 1943 this formation was deemed impractical and the 31st Tank Brigade for the upcoming invasion of France as an independent brigade in Churchill tanks. The Brigade landed in Normandy on June 19, 1944 (D-DAY +13) and began operations in the fighting to take the city of Caen. After Caen fell, the advance continued toward Falaise and the end of the Normandy Campaign.
It was at this point that the 31st Tank Brigade transferred to the 79th Armored Division and converted to Churchill Crocodile flame thrower tanks (the 141st having already done so in June 1944). The brigade would spend the rest of the war in specialized tanks and other vehicles including amphibius amtracks and Ram Kangaroo personnel carriers.
