Elements of the 6th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment Theodore Eicke
reached the northern outskirts of Szomor at the early hours of 5th of January, 1945. Heavy fighting continued all day to secure the village.
the picture shows the 6th SS PzGr reg. grenadiers taking a rest and preparing for the assault on the village in the early hours. by that point the regiment lost half its strength.
